Good evening (afternoon/morning) all!
Hope you’re all well in whichever corner of the world you’re in and staying safe in the madness that is 2020!

I’ve been lurking in and out of this thread for a while and thought I’d just drop a quick introduction.

First off, homage must be paid to Alan for this unique way of tackling the markets. I’ve been attempting to learn to trade on and off for about a year now and this is the first methodology that I feel matches both my way of looking at charts and my goals. So massive thank you for sharing your wisdom with us all.

I’m getting a good handle on the methodology, though my biggest issues at the minute are most definitely psychological (early/late entries and exits due to those 2 lovely words ‘fear’ and ‘greed’) which subsequently ruin the approach.
I’ve had some blinding days, usually when the charts are showing more obvious intent. But then others that have put me back in my place where price is whipping about the place.

Anyways, I just thought it might help to get more involved where I might learn a bit more on the fly...and maybe have a few laughs along the way

Here is a very simply description of what we are aiming for with all our trades.

We are looking always at the averages. We compare averages to averages not price to average, in other words Apples to Apples not Apples to Pears.

We watch for signals that may stop and turn the move and if we have not reached our profit target we would hedge to take advantage of the pull backs.

We start with a lower risk entry and add to the winning position never adding to a losing position, it is better to be stopped out for the small loss.

If the best entry is missed then it is better to wait for another opportunity in the correct direction. Sometimes we don't get another opportunity so we simply sit it out.

I tend to use the 5min chart mostly for these swings but I keep an eye on the other charts also.

The EMA swings/breaks have been hard to get used to. But they're making more sense the more I observe it playing out on the charts!
One of the craziest things is seeing how price reacts the moment the EMA breaks the level it is heading for.

Couple of little scalps made as I woke up a tad late (muggy english weather for ya!) so missed out on anything substantial for the push attempt back up to the EMA (1HR).
Currently eyeing up the 1HR for potential Bearish RSI-Div and Regular Bearish Price-Div, with price being below the ema, to indicate it heading south to the EMA swing at around .29668 ...
(think that's correct evaluation?)

*edit* - hadn't accounted for the break of the closer low EMA swing .30554, so going to hold. (Determined for a good day trading today. And if that means less trades, so be it!)

Is it possible to add an option for the popup box to appear or not, when a new Alan's target is formed?

Hi everyone,

Another newbie here.

I first read through all the posts back in April, then started trading Alan's method soon after, and have finally got my head around it (abit slow on the uptake).

Initially I was trying to gain every pip possible via trading all the counter trend moves and not referring to what the 1 hour chart was telling me. Which didn't turn out so well.

Recently I've used a higher timeframe based view and this has improved my results greatly.

Also, I just wanted to say a massive thanks to Alan for sharing his knowledge and all his fantastic explanations & charts. As well as everybody who regularly posts & adds to this amazing thread.

Finally it made the 3005.

The thing to note is the failure of the EMA to make the 5053 and thus price to the 3088. So a failure causes a test in the opposite directionso welook for the EMA making a LL than the 3024 and thus price reaching the 3005.

Blown up we see the two HD's we spoke of.

The first getting back to the EMA but not finding bear support. The second worked out well and sent price on its journey.
A further thing to note is when it hit the target 3005 it did so in a bullish div so back up it goes.

Just take a look at this 5 min chart. The bear div formed the ABCD then price hovered around the middle for some time before running up to the expected 3121 (in bear div). But then look what happened it ran south exactly to the D1 of the ABCD stopping the EMA making the HH.
