Hello Everyone,
As you noticed, we have made some major changes to our user interface and plan to release more changes soon. We finally released the MT5 and cTrader for our FTMO Platform. We hope you will like all the changes.
We would like to apologise for the issues that some of you encountered. The change has brought in some minor bugs to our website. We are working extremely hard this week to make sure everything is fixed as soon as possible. Many of you showed unhappiness with capacities of our chat and email support. Given all the changes, you can imagine that we are receiving much more inquiries and at peak times, we are being overwhelmed. We expect the situation to come back to normal by next week. Thank you all for your understanding and patience.

Now they removed it and they cut the Verification target to half which should expedite the process. Welcome onboard. After passing each Verification account, we send you a contract form to fill out during which we ask you if you want the accounts to be merged and so on. If you pass more Verifications at the same time, we can easily merge the resulting FTMO Accounts into one FTMO Master Account. If you already have active FTMO Account by the time you pass another Verification, we can merge the accounts providing your current FTMO Account is at its initial balance – which is after a profitable Profit Split is processed and you haven’t started trading in the new trading period. FTMO's "no news trading" policy is really harsh. If you trade, including your SL or TP being hit two minutes either side of a news announcement they close your account !! Really, really puts me off trading with them, especially as I trade with an EA. How are traders avoiding having their accounts closed when it's so easy to accidentally break that rule ? If they don't want us to trade the news then their server should prevent it rather than putting the liability on us traders.

Since our traders have 1:100 leverage available for your trades and no maximum position sizes, highly volatile moves and gaps pose extreme thread to our capital. We don’t have so many rules for our traders to follow and there are not so many news which we put a restrictive character to, so abiding by this rule should not be as difficult.
As our traders trade with many different brokers, we were unable to technically make sure to make such trades impossible and this the traders have to be responsible and follow the contract.

We already addressed the nightly rollover spreads multiple times here. Most traders know that the liquidity around that time is not great and thus avoid trading during that time, which then acts in a downwards liquidity spiralling effect. This situation is not unique to LMAX and is experienced by vast majority of brokers who are not market makers. We would highly recommend not trading around the time of nightly rollovers for this exact reason.
Our FTMO platform will soon switch to using multiple liquidity providers, which will help to both improve liquidity and decrease the spreads, however we highly recommend to avoid trading around the times of nightly rollovers.

There is no threshold. As long as you are at least 1 cent in Profit at the end of your Challenge while meeting all but Profit Target Trading Objectives, we will offer you a free new Challenge.

The prices for the Challenges in Euros stayed the same. The prices in USD, GBP are now calculated from the prices in Euros based on the current currency exchange ratios.

There is a 7-hour market closure on Saturdays in between 12 and 7pm (broker time). You can find the current Trading hours in each instrument’s specifications.

We do not have such statistic at hand at this time. As I was processing most of the passed Verifications till recently, I can say that it is very rare for our traders to have passed Verifications on hold (due to reached $300k capital allocation).

If you pass Verification(s) while having FTMO Account(s) of maximum capital allocation, the passed Verification is put on hold and new FTMO Account can be created in case it would be within the maximum capital allocation of $300k. The Max is $300k, regardless of how it is spread between your FTMO Accounts. So 1x$300k, 3x$100k etc.

As we grow it was not possible to maintain high standards while operating with multiple systems. Time to time each broker had some technical troubles (same as we do have sometimes) and due to this, all clients suffered as our support got overwhelmed. In order to improve liquidity and decrease spreads, we have arranged several other liquidity providers for our FTMO platform. The MT5 and cTrader already uses aggregated liquidity and we will make the switch on MT4 soon as well.

Both Challenge and Verification can be paused upon your specific email request for reasons like illness or even holidays. You need to let us know in advance though and make sure you have our written approval.
The counter for Max Daily Loss resets at midnight of CE(S)T. I’m not sure whether it is exactly the same around the time of changes to Summertime, but we now have a countdown clock in the Time zone converter. Please make sure to choose your Time zone manually if you were using VPN

Is it possible you got disconnected during the waiting time and thus you entered queue after reconnecting again? Up until this week our live chat had waiting times of few minutes at most and our standard processing times for email with all general queries was several hours to 1 business day. Since this week, the processing times for emails grew since the amount of emails and chats grew significantly.

This was, unfortunately, a mistake that found its way into our new interface. The rules stay the same, trading is prohibited on specific instruments 2 minutes prior to and 2 minutes after certain news releases (highlighted in blue background in our Economic Calendar.

You have made several points that we would like to comment on.

2) CFDs - LMAX introduced mini contracts in the first quarter of 2020 when there was extreme volatility in the markets. Please always check the specifications of each instrument that you wish to trade. The regular contracts were sometimes enabled and then disabled again, thus the mix-up you were told about the WS30.lmax and WS.lmax_m. On behalf of my colleague who gave you this information, I would like to apologise to you. We have no minimum position size on our FMTO Platform, so I would suggest opening a 0.01 lot test position if in doubt about the instrument sizes.
3) Micro Gold – Same answer as in 2) applies
4) News trading – Our management thought the rules well before introducing them. As the FTMO Traders trade on demo accounts where execution price at the time of high volatility might be significantly different from the execution price on our live account connected to the FTMO Account, we really don’t want any trading to be done around the news. We like to see mature, responsible traders with a system and trading news is always a little bit of a gamble, which we do not wish to spread nor support.

The Profit Split is based on your FTMO Account results, not our live account connected to it, so there is no disadvantage for the scalpers. I while back we had a large number of traders using HFT and as it was often causing large discrepancies between the results on traders’ FTMO Accounts and our live accounts, we introduced small commissions to help us cover these differences and thus we avoided introducing any additional complicated rules for our traders. If you intend to scalp, we recommend you to take MT5 or cTrader as we find these platforms a little bit better for this type of trading.

In my personal opinion, I will tell you why LMAX is the only broker for USA citizens. It is most likely that FTMO have a contract with LMAX, splitting spreads revenue(rollover and trading spreads), i .e making money on the large spreads, while you losing money on it. I bet it is part of the main revenue for FTMO. They will never admit it.

Actually, the reason is completely different, and it has to do with legal liabilities in the US, which are much stricter than elsewhere. As FTMO is not a broker (We do not accept direct deposits nor open live accounts for our clients), the legal applications are different both for us and our traders. This is the reason why the clients from USA are limited to FTMO Platform.

If you have a look at Snail69's post where he mentions issues with account data, this could be very frustrating for the trader.

I also had some weird data values on my demo trial run but I'm not concerned since it is just a test run mainly to check spread, general trading operations, slippage on exit and if I think it's workable.

So far I had one unusual spike but apart from that the spreads were fine and no major issues detected but I only traded a few majors.

Imagine getting kicked out of a challenge/verification due to incorrect account data, might be interesting to fight your way out of it, although they would probably give you another go but what if they refused, difficult to prove unless you are actively recording floating PnL.

In any case, assess the perceived risk of participating and either have a go or sit on the sidelines.

My view currently is to wait a bit longer and if their operations show slight improvement then I'm in.

At this very moment, TradingView is showing Dax at 12634, and Lmax as 12614. Normal spread on Lmax. What the heck is going on there?

Edit: Looks like Lmax is a couple of 5 minute bars ahead. Damn, I thought this would work to my advantage .

Hey Guys I said a few negative things or I should say some honest things about FTMO earlier in this thread so I want to keep saying some honest things.

Today I was trading the challenge and the spreads during the NFP were pretty good and they returned to decent spreads very quickly after the report came out.

So that is a big plus checkmark for FTMO

That being said I also found out that during big risk-off events if this was a live account with their money you can not even have stops or limit orders that trigger 2 mins before or after.

This is a bit crazy in my view I get why they do not want to accept the risk but still, if you are in swing trades this basically means you have to lock in any losses that may come back due to the report release.

They should allow stops and limit orders to only close positions during news releases or at least say within a certain range for example plus or minus 20 pips

Removed my earlier comments, Tomas clarified it's still 2mins before and after. But anyway, we can still trade jpy pairs as proxy for usd. And chf for eur pairs. Or probably some other crosses.

Would be nice if the TE could track MT5 or cTrader but alas it appears not so with only MT4 and FxTrade being offered.

Perhaps the following:

Challenge via MT4 so I can show it on TE.

Verification via cTrader (MyFxBook link).

Funded via MT5 or cTrader.

Hi Tomas, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my inquiries.


If I may just offer one piece of advice. For us, US clients we are use to a certain level of customer support, and customer support is a critical part of all businesses. It takes a lot of time and money to acquire customers and it is so easy to lose a customer because of poorly trained or understaffed customer support.

That being said, I get the fact that you guys are growing rapidly and these things happen. Everything worked out in the end so I have no further comments or negative things to say.

Good luck with all the new growth and changes. I am looking forward to a long and happy relationship with your company.

I've started a thread on the two "new kids on the block" in the prop firm world. They offer a different model which might suit some people. How they rate on the legit side is yet to be fully established of course but some say they are OK

I have joined and hoping to get my first payout next week. "Hoping" is the key word of course!
