another update,
although nothing very special happened, thought to mention 2 things from recently, that relate to trading and journal.
1.
this month not 1, not 2, but 3 guys mentioned one way or another that looking closely my trades i have taken on TE.
should be all good, but hard to know if someone may go as far as copy out trades "real time" i take.
with the possibility of update delay, plus without truly knowing or understanding what and why i did, it is pure dangerous, and something i want to be sure not to enable.
the account is well otherwise, still with the dd, but still a very healthy 2 digit gain (This Year+78.85%).
it isnt the first or the last time to get into drawdown, and it isnt the first or last time i will recover from it.
but due the above mentioned reason, the TE for the time being stays private. less temptation to copy anything by anyone.
2.
the weekend i got a mail with a frequently enough recurring question, which i think many aspiring traders has in mind.
thought why not share it here, with my answer. i will just hide the sender for his privacy.

there is no answer to that.
obviously darwinex doesn't attract many apart form their own contribution...
there is a chance to try to attain funds from some prop firms ( or named as such) like FTMO...but especially the initial rules make it somewhat a gamble...
and that leaves your best chance to the end: private networking. but it is also the toughest probably...family and friends, and other acquaintances the first obvious choice.
but often they dont have meaningful money to invest, nor familiar with trading, and more often than not may even hold a negative view about.
there is also a prevalent negative tone to trading/investment on social media and forums too, that doesnt help.
hard to put forward a long 2-3 years track record, that will be judged by every party the same way.
some want 100s of %age gain yearly, others sub 5% max dd, and not even surprised anymore that these 2 often combined.
expectations are sky high, totally departed from the reality of 1-5% a year "safe alternatives" like bank deposit or bond...which of course also not fully risk free...
if you happen to find a few investors, they are the actual best bet to widen the pool; a happy investor can bring in from his circle another interested party, and so on.
i am currently going with that path.
working with only a few ppl, then they brought in new investors or upped their existing investment.
but it is still small scale. and slow.
the catch-22 of trading really is, on the retail side, that to be able to trade low risk/low dd, and thrive on a "good" 1-2% return a month, one would need to manage at least 1-2 million assets.
the math is simple: 1M AUM, 1% a month = 10k, 30% profit share = 3k...
is the basic expenses covered, but not a high flying life.
2% =6k....start to look decent...
1-2% monthly return one can make with no more than 1-3% max dd.
but so long an average investor has 10k assets to offer, to collect up 1M AUM takes 100 investors....not a simple task if someone not coming from the wealthier class.
the middle ground is somewhat a hybrid solution to the issue. have some own capital, and from the profit generated from the lessen size managed asset base use a chunk to increase your personal trading funds, to gain an increasing profit.
neither fast, nor fancy, but a realistic take on the common situation of retail traders.

but please respect that i have changed my status to be "commercial member".
that includes that for the time i am not looking to teach anyone anymore for free. if i do, it will be my choice.
and i haven't fully disclosed what and how i am doing on the journal neither in the past.
the reason being the journal is not a trading system thread, but a journal to share what i want to share, and to write down some of my thoughts, partly for myself.
again, some chat is fine, but i want to limit my time that is "wasted".
so what is considered time "wasted"?
honestly,
if someone very early on his road, include but not end with few demo trades, system hopping, believing in trading books and getting rich overnight with 30$ no deposit bonus, that i would consider i cant be much of help.
and let me add here one more thing, bcos recently had a few of these encounters too:
if you bother to ask me for something, anything, and i take my time to type out to you a real answer, not something like " read the thread" or "use google", but a normal answer that may take me time to do, 30-45 min of my free time i could use for anything anyone else....
at least have that minimal courtesy to write back something like "thank you"!
i think it is not too much to ask for, since i didn't ask you to ask me anything, at all,
and i was polite enough to answer to you best i can with the circumstances.
be that some suggestion on TMAs, or scalping, or even how to find investors.
you may or may not get the answer you expect, but i did the best i could as per a "commercial member"
ah, and as such, as most may be aware of it, but some not...commercial members can send 1 PM per 24 hour...
bcos that, i prefer to communicate on skype. you want to say something, PM me a skype contact, i can add you to chat.

the end of June.
started with a nasty loss right on the 1st June ( was a post about it), the rest of the month went on to recover.
for me, recovery usually means i am more focused on taking the better, most promising setups ( not that there cant be duds, there are, of course), and usually trade a little lighter too, at least until some of the dent righted.
the month looked like this on a balance curve, ( what Mt4 produce, and i am not fond of it as really equity counts, but for me the end of the days always flat anyhow)
not all back to HWM, but not far behind, should be the first few days of July take care of that.
often comes up the question why take a larger loss, and many small wins which doesn't make sense to some.
understand the notion, of course,
but the simple answer is: statistics
if one has a long enough sample at hand, it isnt that difficult to work the numbers.
for example if i would walk 7 x 1 steps forward, and jump back 5 steps pace....and suppose to keep doing the same, periodically...in the end i would be still moving forward.
the way i see it.
well, not only, the way i do it too.
else this week started this discord channel, keeping things a little different.
some of you are there, and we start to have more interaction, and although trading styles differ, it is still real live trading in the best sense.
anyone interested, i will post bellow an invite link that i will leave for the next 24 hours.

Just a little fun fact for the weekend:
Seeing the recent drama developed in a thread under trade discussions...someone asking proof of trades and calls, and other saying join this free trading room and see live calls there daily if you wish...and the subsequent name calling, finger pointing, ego boosting, and some outright lies even...
Is all in one the other half of my desire to get a distance between myself and the forum here.
There isn't much potential upside surrounding myself with generally negative ( ppl, threads, systems).
In that regard discord had just 1 incident yet, and that lasted less than 3 hours to cut short.
It is free to join, but it isn't equally mean to tolerate BS/bad attitude.
Lucky enough, it is a friendly place, and will stay that way.
Bcos there it is also my way. Or...

the August update
this month went fast! Summer is over!
well, not exactly, though, one of the perks living in Thailand. most of the days it is summer!
trading was pretty smooth, and better than the past years, for August, which is a traditionally slow month for trading.
i am really looking forward for the next months, cos contrary to the summer, autumn tend to be my better period usually!
the little discord group is going very well, starting to have a strong core group of posters, many of them familiar from the forum here.
it is a totally different way to interract with other traders real time.
i acknowledge it isnt for everyone, although it is pretty much open everyone to join.
however, it isnt really the best suit any newbie traders probably, it isnt trading system thread to teach you how to trade ( although i may take on occasionally a student), and it isnt a place for free signals really.
and it isnt a place for lurkers in the background, who keep to themselves only.
what it is then?
a place for traders looking to spend time with other traders. a place to chat about trading matters, discuss some prop trading or other trading related things, or just chat, or maybe pick up some trading books to read.
the best thing: it is FREE!
