DislikedGuys I need someone who can explain the following parameters: MaxSpread UseMinMarginPercent MinMarginPercent They can ruin the backtest so i'm disabling themIgnored
DislikedHi, I've be trying out the "Maximize Profit" feature, the "ProfitSet " set to 70 and "MoveTP to 30. But for some reason when the trade hits the 70% it doesn't move the TP but closes the trade. using Blessing version 16 mt4 Can some explain how this feature works and how to set it correctly. ThanksIgnored
(Stop optimizing ATRTF after the first pass.)
(You could leave these alone until the last pass. Whatever ...)
(Stop optimizing MACDEntry after the first pass. You could include MACD_TF in the first pass if you like. I don't usually do that anymore.)
(These are not checked in my set file. Add them if you're grid size is greater than one. Stop RSI_TF after first pass. That may actually be too many parameters at once for Strategy Tester to cope with. Deal with it.)
DislikedIf someone can improve GBPUSD, i would love to look at it. GBPUSD Jan 18th 2017 move of 600 pips is where the drawdown is. and then April 1st week 2017 move of 600+pips movement made that big drawdown. lets see if someone can make it better. or manually identify such trades, we have to maintain and close them manually.Ignored
DislikedI don't know everything about Blessing. But I can get you started optimizing well in a hurry, if you pay attention. {file} That set file has parameter ranges already set and the important optimizable ones already checked. They are in groups, as you can see in the Blessing menu. ATRTF, ATRPeriods, GAF (Stop optimizing ATRTF after the first pass.) ProfitSet, MoveTP, TotalMoves EEHoursPC, EEStartLevel, EELevelPC (You could leave these alone until the last pass. Whatever ...) MACDEntry, FastPeriod, SlowPeriod, SignalPeriod (Stop optimizing MACDEntry...Ignored
Be aware that this approach with much increased speed has really changed the game over original Blessing. All kinds of tutorials suggest ways to speed up testing. Most amount to doing less testing, which is problematic, but was necessary back then. Yet they were also doing more testing considering the large histories they used, which was very slow.
Using more history, as I've said, has problems. Especially when the last few months have seen a very different market than just six months or a year ago. Optimizing for a market that's long gone isn't very helpful. Blessing can still find patterns but they usually amount to small undercurrents and low profits.
Enough ramblings. Hope this helps someone.
Good luck.
Disliked{quote} Hi Richard, must be RSI_TF always set on 4H even if we change TF on the chart ? You have set on 4H instead of "current" Moreover, when i try to optimize with your file GBPUSD and GBPNZD, i have 0 results. What should i check ?Ignored
Disliked"Turn it off and back on again" right richard?! Hey sorry unrelated note: What do you do when a trend kicks in (and starts causing drawdown) - to hedge or not to hedge (and simply cut the loss at X %?) I tried the hedging but the price whipped in and out of hedge threshold causing quite big losses (also spread loss each time entering and exiting). Mind you not sure I was doing the hedge settings too well, might have missed something. So now thinking perhaps instead of hedging just cut the loss short (equity protection) at 10 or 20% and take the...Ignored

Disliked{quote} I haven't tried different spread settings in quite a while. I've had such good results with 30 (3.0) I haven't felt the need to mess with it. Having a fixed spread is definitely an MT4 shortcoming. MT5 appears to fix that and may very well be more profitable. I've been considering additions to the EA to improve the spread, time of day, day of week issues. MT5 will probably make those unnecessary. I do have tools for recording spreads over time in a file and have considered building that information into Blessing. But it does work surprisingly...Ignored
