What is going on with Pepperstone?!

My account margin level dropped from %1820 at 4:50 Pm Easten time to %500 5 minutes later at close. However, equity level is the same, balance is the same& same amount of DD in red for both times since no volatility!!?checked their spread at the same time nothing is abnormal!! Are they creating fake gaps to wash my account? I took before and after screenshots.

I don't know what they are doing. There are brokers out there that offer volatile margin to the benefit of themselves I suppose. You can always switch to this broker fbs.

what pair are u holding positions in? check your email.

CHF pairs leverage decreased to 100% across the board.
Due to the potential for increased market volatility, from tomorrow 15 May 2020 (23:59 GMT+3 server time) we’ll be temporarily reducing leverage to 100:1 on all CHF currency pairs, including USDCHF, EURCHF, CHFJPY, GBPCHF, AUDCHF, CADCHF, and NZDCHF.

Email was sent on thursday.

This is disappointing. During this year, this is 3rd time they increased our exposure to more risks.

Thank you Bicarus !!

They had sent an email less than 24 hrs before they changed the Margin requirements, so If I have opened even right position sizes and they are in DD now Pepperstone is forcing me either I close current positions (Loss of tens of Thousands of dollars) or leave it till a possible margin call. If they had notified us earlier that they are going to change the margin I wouldn’t have to take these positions to begin with.. But keep changing things and rules without proper notifications in advance is a huge problem and huge risks!

cant be helped, there was a high chance of 2014 snb happening again so guess theyy had to take appropriate steps. look at eurchf's rally today.

whhat is your risk tolerance, sl per trade?
to me your lot sizing seems acceptable even with the decreased leverage.
you stated that margin dropped from %1820 to %500 so i assume your intial leverage is 1:300
at 300 leverage, per pip movement = 3 margin point
whereas 100 leverage, per pip movement = 1 margin point
so @ 100 leverage for chf pairs @ %500 margin remaining, u have 430 pips movement prior to margin liquidation @ %20 margin.
hopefully you dint close out your trades alrdy simply basing on the leverage decrease.

I had to hedge same size to increase Margin level % even at wrong size of market. Since it was 15 lots it was suicidal!

Thank God. It worked and didn’t have to close any position just 5k in unrealized profit since I had to close all at BE. I could have leave it run for profits but I had enough with the all situation.
