Disliked{quote} Well, to give a quick answer: in all realms of (higher) culture the highest excellence has been reached in the past and in the past we find the measure with which to compare ourselves. compared to times of highest culture we live in a bloodless, degenerate time. infertile in any aspect of culture and knowledge. look for example how the buildings and cities we build today look, as compared to earlier centuries. or what is produced and sold in the contemporary "art market". in philosophy nothing new has been thought for at least 100 years....Ignored

What is demanded by the public and provided by hollywood is increasingly violent, gory, and perverted... But... did we really have a higher culture? Or were these raw human degenerate feelings just hidden or repressed? When is the "higher" culture time in history? History is filled with wars, torture, slavery, domination.... I think there is a tendency to also nostalgize and idealise prior generations and...Ignored
