dude, i m trading VSA, so that should tell u about how long my positions can be open.. it s not about trading style, but if i make it a risk free trade and since there s nice volatility i wanna trail it and see how much more can it run(overnight not during weeekend) then those spreads will kill me..even now 20 pips spread on pound pairs it s a bit 2 much for me at 12 am noon, and the pound news have passed for like an 1hr and 30.. again, i ain t trying to pick a fight lol, i m just trying to find out if this is just an issue that they are facing and might be worked on or not, as the only thing that makes me post here is my intent of joing theyr challenge since i thought they re legit as a firm..

Bro i just want to help you don't get me wrong if you have certain time when you trade your prefered qurency go on these part inside your account and there is such a tool that shows you spred for certain qurrency on that time (uif these can help you), so go trading > application > broker rewiev.

As most of you probably have already noticed, the restrictions which should prevent the spreading of COVID-19 have a significant impact on the financial market and overall economy. Traders should be prepared on high volatility and market movements that can be labeled as unpredictable. This can be caused by central banks’ attempts to stabilize the situation.
Current extreme spreads on gold, inability to open new positions
The main reason behind the current surge in gold prices is its ability to act as a "save haven" when it comes to investor’s funds and brace them against rapid inflation which can be expected in the following months due to the enormous amount of capital being pumped into the economy.

The second reason is the quarantine which has been imposed on several biggest gold producers in Switzerland due to their proximity to the Italian region of Lombardy which is the epicenter of COVID-19 in Italy. Due to this, the gold producers were forced to halt production and the international expedition of this precious metal is currently also limited. Currently, the amount of gold in its physical form is slowly decreasing.

The combination of high volatility with low liquidity results in extreme spreads on this precious metal and sometimes may lead to the inability to open or close a position.

In conclusion, we would like to add that volatility not only on gold but also on all currency pairs and indices is extreme. You should consider this fact when placing stop losses and volumes being traded.

Spreads on LMAX has been fucked up since the release of LMAX FTMO platform, not related to COVID-19

SirOrigami, your absolutely correct! FTMO originally said they partnered with LMAX to give their traders the best possible trading conditions. Well, these spreads have been TERRIBLE. I can tell you first hand that IC-Markets spreads are no different now during this Covid 19 than they were before or very little. Their precious metals have been a smidge higher at times and the rest of the pairs are IDENTICAL! Gold aka XAU/USD the spreads have been about $2-$3 and it's max, but currently less than $1 compared to FTMO's $8-10!!! IC-Markets GBP pairs are 2,3 pips on the AUD/NZD where as FTMO has been 10,15-20!!!. Actually the spreads on the metals right now at ICM's For people to give warning, which is a nice gesture when there is going to be volatile times as were in now or Red News Events, I highly disagree with the statement given by Mizi - some brokers use this time for an excuse to take advantage of traders and it's a shame. It all depends on how good your Broker is...

It would be really nice for FTMO to add back IC-Markets for an option for it's traders. I never had one problem with IC-Markets and I was using their MT5 platform...still don't understand why we don't have access to them or Pepperstone for that matter.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love FTMO and everything they offer and I'm thankful - but why not be the best there is by offering it's traders only the best Brokers along with their best trading accounts?

Purple server are disabled fro tracking stats according to technical service (perhaps a good idea to signal it to customers before register ??) , and ftmo server doesn't work neither , it says " account blocked " when i put my log in,

We are hoping that the situation is going to get better soon. Curiously enough, traders now have the best chances to focus on trading and their solid progress. There has never been such a great opportunity to invest your free time (if you are in a home quarantine) and taking advantage of the markets conditions we see now. From what we see, many of you handle this volatility so well and having amazing profits. This will mark the most profitable month in the history of FTMO and the biggest payout withdrawals to our FTMO Traders. Thank you for your outstanding trading results.

Office situation:
Short update about the situation at FTMO. Respecting the decision of our government, we have enforced a home office for all our team members. It is a new situation for us as normally we are used to interacting with each other in our offices. We are connected by videoconferences, calls and chat groups so that we cooperate internally to the best of our abilities. Everyone is doing their maximum to address your questions and concerns as soon as possible.

Trading situation:
For those who remember the current volatility, it can be compared to the financial crisis in 2008. For this reason, it is very common that spreads are wider MUCH MORE than usual. It is all done because of panic and uncertainty, which is now dominating the markets. Moreover, exchange-traded products such as US indices and commodities (mainly Gold) stopped trading several times this week as limits for the down move were triggered.
Please note this market situation is not an issue of the trading platform or any technical glitch of our partnered brokers. Unfortunately, this is how the markets work, so please be much more careful than ever. There is nothing we can do when markets are halted or when Gold refineries close down, causing enormous spreads and volatility. If you still think that there is a technical error on our side, please contact us directly and we’ll look into your concern.

Hi, this message is for Otakar. I'm currently in a challenge and the first broker I had was IC-Markets using their RAW/ECN account on MT5. I was extremely happy with them from the spreads to execution. Once learning that ICM was no longer being offered I switched to FTMO/LMAX using the MT4 platform. At first was extremely happy and may of even been better than ICM's. Then the platform started freezing and acting up so unfortunately had to switch to another broker - Blueberry Markets. I assumed that we would receive their Professional/ECN account...

Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately, Blueberry Markets do not provide demo ECN accounts, only STP. I am sorry for the troubles you had with our platform. More than two weeks ago we significantly upgraded our FTMO server, there should be no issues with freezing, lagging etc. We register just a very small number of complaints on the platform from which most of the complaints are on Gold and US indices, which are out of our control.

Thank you for your question. Yes, Purple Trading experienced similar issues that we experienced with our platform a few weeks ago. All of this is related to the market conditions, volatility and the increased impact it had on servers. Since Monday, it should all be ok. We received several complaints, which most of them are already solved.

For those who had issues with our platform and requested change to Purple Trading, I am really sorry for this unfortunate situation. Nobody could have predicted this.

I am sorry to hear that. Our platform should offer the best trading conditions, feel free to check the Broker review application, you will see that during the main trading hours, our spreads are the best. You need to compare the overall cost, not only spreads and in ascending order. What you experienced are spreads outside the main market hours. I would like to repeat that our demo accounts have live market data that LMAX streams directly to big players – banks, corporations etc. LMAX is not streaming any high spreads just for our clients to have the Challenge more difficult, but because that is the current market situation.
We have contacted LMAX about it and this is their answer:

“Having consulted with the technical teams on these scenarios, this is not abnormal for an exchange. Having wider spreads around market open and close is something clients will need to be aware of. We have no control over the aggregate spreads we publish at any given time - this is a factor of the pricing provided by our 25 tier 1 banks and non-bank LPs, which is in turn impacted by market volatility and underlying market liquidity conditions.
Of course, other ‘brokers’ and LPs may not have these spikes due to the nature of how they price their products and their last-look liquidity.'

Hi Otakar, thank you for your reply. Yes, I'm back using FTMO and the server seems to be working fine so thank you. I really liked FTMO the first time around because the spreads were fantastic across the board...even comparable to IC-Markets. I like to trade everything and now, I can't even touch GOLD because the spreads are $10-$15 which is insane! The GBP pairs have been really high as well. I just don't understand how ICM's spread can be less than $1 on Gold and ours is $10-$15. You can't even touch it which stinks...It would be nice if you could work something out with LMAX and tell them how ridiculous the spreads are mainly on GOLD and the GBP pairs.

In the FTMO platform, there is the regular XAU/USD which isn't the mini, and those spreads are where they should be - but, we can't trade those? lol

there is a physical gold shortage, globally, due the panic, and that put pressure on the market.
stop whining about it, something you cant change, neither can anyone here, as much as i would love to trade gold myself.
it is time to re-discover EurUsd, where the range from an all time low of about 40 pips a day a few weeks ago has jumped to a pleasent and tradable 150-160 pips on average...with spread still just moderately higher than usually.

Just passed my trial challenge and looking for real challenge with FTMO. Is anyone here already funded?

This question has ben asked several times here. I still haven’t seen an answer. Either no funded accounts or they lose their account for some reason very soon after getting funded.

Honestly mate, I don't think many can trade within the guidelines. i.e. Luck may have got them through the challenge. I could be wrong.

Besides, the conditions under the challenge and the funded are slightly different. This might be the difference between “life and death”. I said long time ago that good traders do not rely on luck. However, the interesting thing is that here are many people protecting and defending FTMO, yet nobody saying a word about having been funded and/or having made a withdrawal.

I don't understand why trading with ftmo is difficult because they don't allow to trade ristricted events. On left i have the the calendar i see the event and time when he is gona come out. So what should i do simply i will not count trading on that time, or if i will do it i come after event is realised if there is a huge candle also i will not enter.... FTMO DON'T WANT TRADERS WITHOUT RULES
