I am getting a lot of boxes with this indicator on a clear chart.

So the boxes are all going infinitely to the right. (I have never seen this before; this is concerning).
Is it MT4 (not MT5); and what version? What happens if the timeframe is switched then switched back? Does this always happen?

Try loading it with default settings as the only indicator on a new chart then restarting MT4.

Dear Mike and anyone else that can help me pleeeease !!!!

i am with IG broker in the UK. I live in the UK. My server time is the same as local time. I have downloaded the attached auto session indicator but I have absolutely no idea what parameters I need to change in the "input tabs" attached. I am a complete novice at these things. I would be indebted and grateful if anyone can help me and tell me step by step, what each of the parameters should be set at, so that everything works in sync with UK time. Thankyou and much obliged.

Hi baraka! Greetings from Texas.

No matter what one's local time is, simply check the current Eastern time, at that link in the top of the parameters (https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york).

Then check the server/broker time. If the server is later by 1 hour, then set the parameter to "1", (for example). For most brokers it's 7.

Please let me know if that makes sense, and if ya ever have ideas for making the indicator clearer to novice traders.

Few things about latest version :

1- Why not make it so that we can choose between small and large versions, the small version would take half the space of current look
2- When you set the corner to upper right, the text for market hours are missplaced
3- Give us inputs for every single color you are using in the indicator, this will help us fully customize the colors to our need
4- why not check the summer and winter mode internally based on the month and set it properly for example on every clock ticking? this will reduce one very important setting that user can change and mess things up.

Hi fxbarwise,

I don't yet use MT5, but it should be pretty easy to convert it -- just changing the name of the .mq4 file to .mq5; opening it in "metaeditor.exe"; and getting it to compile. While in metaeditor, press F1 to view/download the help file, which will be titled "MQL5 Reference"; there will be a section on "converting MQL4 programs to MQL5".

For users of the Auto_Sessions indicator, daylight savings in Eastern just began on Sunday, but it will begin in Europe in 3 weeks. Almost all brokers have correctly adjusted their server time to keep in sync with Eastern. However, a couple of unusual brokers (Trader's Way is one) keep in sync with Europe instead, and you'll notice their server time is one hour behind what it normally is. Any "Trader's Way" traders will need to change the parameter "BrokerEasternOffset" from 7 to 6, for the next 3 weeks -- and then change it back.

I could make a new parameter for these special brokers, maybe called "BrokerEuropeOffset", but I think that would cause more confusion that it would be worth.

Hi Mike,

I am looking for an MT4 indicator that shows the candle that opens at a specific time of day with an arrow or whatever Wingdings symbol of choice.
The following must be inputs: timeframe (M15, M30, H1 etc.), candle open time (HH:mm), number of bars to lookback (1000, 500 etc.), Wingdings symbol showing the candle.
I guess I could modify the Auto_Sessions indicator for this purpose but I am not a programmer and would not know where to start. I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.

Hi everyone,

There are probably no more updates for a while, so I thought it would be nice to release the latest version.


Auto_Sessions v2.91:

- Removed the unintended comment in the Color4 parameter.

- Indicator automatically does not show anymore in the Data Window, since this is always empty anyway.


Note: The default colors are optimized for a WhiteSmoke background:

According to the Forex Factory sessions gadget, it looks like the Tokyo open/close is off by 1 hour today, i.e. should be a 3 hour difference from Sydney?

Your indicator is awesome, the best I found with source code, after searching and trying a bunch today.

I've attached a 1 line suggestion to include in future versions. Modification is at line 201, to convert the FrameStyle variable from numeric to descriptive.

No, Tokyo always begins upon the NY close, and Sydney always begins two hours after Tokyo begins. (365 days a year -- so to speak).

Yes indeed -- I can't find out any last-minute Japan Forex hours-changes for sure, but they've always opened 30 minutes ago -- at 1900 Eastern local. I've contacted FF about this.
