This thread will be where we discuss the TD-SEQ and Combo signals. You may post your chart and anlysis why or why not the signal should be taken here.

TD-SEQ and Combo are indicators developed by Thomas Demark to signal trend reversals. It's not holy grail but we did see many successful signals. Successful rate? that's part of the purpose for this thread --- we will find it out here. We also want to find out that if there are some discretion can be applied to filter this signals, this is where we need those experienced traders' participation. Nobody is right all the time, by sharing your views here your discretion will be reviewed by others and may learn something you were missing.

In EA Factory thread we developed a couple of versions of TD-Seq indicators and they are very close to mature. The different versions was the result of unorganized development in the early stage but will be more organized later. You may choose whichever version that you feel comfortable with.

TD-Combo is supposed to be more accurate than TD-Seq and is under development. Once it's released we will also discuss its's signal here in this thread.

I suggest that we only share the source codes among limited developers, not to public, just in case big fishes in the market will hack it and chase our stops.

i wouldnt worry about it. they already have their own TD Sequential indicators already tested and ready

If I am not mistaken in one of currency trader article about TD sequence, they mentioned that this system is quite famous to be used by professional. I thought professional is same as big fish. Am I right??

it's about big fishes that use MT4. The PRO use BB, CQG blah blah...... which have already implemented TDSEQ and other TD indicators. For MT4, there is only Demarker I indicator implemented by default

What time frame do you mostly use this indicator, or in other words what is the best time frame, is there any stats?

Originally it was designed for dailies, but that was for stocks.

4H and daily, sometimes I go down to 1H for confirmation and better entry.

TD said it may even work at 1M, but I don't know. This is why we have this thread, .

Ok, I will start first. But please join me by posting charts and analysis. Everybody has the unqiue view and we can all benefit if we learn from each other.

I should post charts and analysis about what's going to happen instead of what's already happened. But this time as a starter I will post what just happened in fiber.
The perfect setup (indicator by the large arrow) completes at a place close to the supply line, showing that the upward momentum was weaken. Then the price proceed to the trend line and retraced to EMA 365.

Setups always complete at the pairs that you were not watching... I missed this one, even I have email alert turned on. Could be a 30 pips retracement.

Perfect setup completes at a place close to 50 fibo level, unfortunately EMA150 limited the size of retracement.

For people don't know about coding, it doesn't matter to have source or binary. So I agree than we keep the source by ourselves, just in case.

ive downloaded Aha's latest version and i can see the benefit of this system however just quickly scanning back through a couple of months worth of charts i can see many occasions when this indicator gets it seriously wrong.

for example on my H1 eur/usd chart the indicator gave a perfected countdown buy signal on Oct 5th at roughly 1.2675. 5 days later the price was 1.2515.

however i decided to overlay the chart with the absolute strength indicator using 0 7 7 4 0 1 4 settings and if you didn't take a trade unless the histogram agreed i think your accuracy would be improved.

personally i dont trade euro dollar either. choppy, daytraded and to many bots for my liking. i am going to thoroughly test this system on cable and swissie only.

i'll post some charts later as pictures are better than my babbling lol

btw i havent managed to find setting for the strength histogram that im happy with on a TF longer than H1. it lags too far behind 4H and daily and a good trade could be over before the histogram agreed with the setup.

Hmmm ... what dollar lots (1, 2, 10, 20 or more) do you trade to be concerned about the big fishes?

Trust me, you would do yourself a much larger favour not publishing your SL on any particular order and monitor it seperatelly and have the discipline to cut it when the time/price arrives.

The big fish are usually out hunting for other big fish of comparable size to actually make it worth their while.

Anyway, I'd like to test this thing out, but would like to see the source code. Care to PM it to me?

Wow! Thanks, Soul_Cactus. I am not familiar with the absolute strength histogram indicatr so I can't comment on that, but using them to confirm with each other may be a good idea. Keep those ideas coming!

Yes, I don't think TD-Seq is the holy grail and I don't use it as the sole indicator for entry. Keep in mind that TD-Seq is a developed to signal trend reversals before the anticipated price action, not a trend follower. That's high risk/gain business, so inevitably there will be false signals.

What I learned is that if I use it along with major resistance/support level, it can give me an idea if the price action have the strength to penetrate these levels, or retreat briefly, or will turn around in front of them.

The purpose of this thread is to share our insights on how to utilize the edge this indicator gives to us. The more we share, that better we may improve ourselves.

Soul,
TD Seq is mainly look for reversal..so if the market is trending best not to put ur $$ on it. Like most indicators its not the grail...but will help in our decision if we use it with price action and knowledge of the market. To use TD sq in 1hr chart, u have to be nimble as there be lots of false signals. I perfer 4Hr charting. And i notice it seems to work better in certain pairs, not sure if its true...as i still observing and studying it. When its clear will post the results here.

The attached is Cable daily charts. In this year, the daily chart gives only 5 signals. On hindsight it's always easy to spot ture or fake signals. But they can be used as an example to show how we should appy discretionary.

The first signal (not a perfect one, notice that the arrow is smaller) is a fake one because the price just crossed EMA 365 successfully. The chance is it won't recross back on it's first attemp (otherwise it won't succeed on crossing it in the first place).

The second one wouldn't be too tough to call. Because the price is close to 9000 level.

The third signal is also a free trade. First attemp on crossing EMA 150 plus a trend reversal signal from TD-SEQ? you know what to do.

The 4th one is similar to the 2nd one.

The 5th one is a tough call. When the signal comes, the price bar is actually at around 8900 level. If we jump in we will get burned. But what's the reason not to jump in? I don't know. For me I may have jumped in because the price just formed a double top, it's retraceing back to retest the bottom of the double top pattern, there is a chance it will fail and the price will go down like a stone. At that situation if I got a signal from TD-SEQ, I will jump in....unless the price has broken the bottom of the double top pattern.
