It is a wise idea to keep your leverage low till the time you don't learn that how to manage your risk effectively.

That’s really obvious; even I don’t think high trading leverage is a useful option for the knowledgeable traders as always.

I think it should be more about knowing how leverage works and being able to deal with its associated risks intelligently. But for a beginner I'd say start with low leverage, just so that you can get a hang of things.

Stick with low leverage so that you can learn the concept of leverage and its workings. It is always a safe bet. Rest depends on your preference and experience

Which leverage is more appropriate it completely depends on your risk management approach, if you know how to manage risk when trading; there is no chance to make losses by using leverage even high.

Exactly. Traders need to first of all wrap their heads around the concept of risk management. You need to have a proper understanding of it in order to implement it

in order to our trading understanding generally traders choose their leverage ratio , beginners always try to make money rapidly by using leverage but ultimately become loser when trading in practical , making money from leverage is a great skill and need also a exact trading plan, for that need a long term experience.

i dont think so

having good MM can safe you when market moves at random ,

there is no certainty in this stock ,
so don't depend on anything.

I believe in the end, it really comes to whats your trading strategy, as long as you have a balance risk management and solid calculation of balancing out your capital making sure every time you place an order it within your safety net and never risk more then what you can handle so you wont be reaching margin call easily. Leverage is a tool for experience traders and everything is a risk if you don't have a solid strategy to follow though and be consistent

your message mention that market is too much risky and for that reason we should quit from any trading approach , just lol. nothing there is 100% in here , its an open secret but after all we have to develop every trading system and skill , risk management is a skill in here and of course its important to develop.

Hi,

I'm with interactive brokers residing in Australia. IB only allows 40:1 leverage for forex but pepperstone provides up to 400:1. Anyone know why such a huge difference? Thanks.

I agree.Plus how much leverage is good or risky would be relative to a trader and his experience,knowledge and risk management strategy. So its better to use leverage according to that.

exactly , according to knowledge and experience traders should use leverage but the main problem is when using this financial tool most of the time we lost our mind , and try to bring profit rapidly by using high leverage and fall a great trouble ultimately.

its more appropriate to use leverage in demo first of all. this approach will support you to see the real performance how it works. and this approach also supportive to avoid unfortunate risk and losses.

yes , its a good source to avoid risk and losses.
but the main problem in demo we cant trade seriously ,
there is no emotions.

One can and should take demo trading seriously, but true, it's not the same. The best motivation is, I think, to consider your future losses if you're not taking demo seriously now.

Any beginner should use low leverage rather than high leverage. Going for 1:30 is fine.
Risk Management is of utmost importance!
