The Thanks Peter....the only cool one is the one finding diamonds in Arkansas....lol So, for my long term holds I’m committed to perfecting Gann into my trading. But even then one is a fool if fundamentals such as news pending, interest rates etc is ignored. Davit has done a good job drilling that home to anyone who follows. For trading short term there is no finer thread in FF than Davit’s Pivot trading. The method developed there is second to none, and in particular I enjoy Cryptosurf Low Hanging Fruit entry at key pivot levels because it suits my quest for a little more precision on my entries...( ok I know I’m a bit anal)

All in all two great threads in my humble opinion....also, I’m enjoying getting to understand Parisboy envelopes methods, but need to do more study.....

{quote}4 That was a really good article, thanks for posting, and so true. I have found mt4 is lacking so much when it comes to Gann angles and such due to scaling problems. Even tradingview, although it has many Gann tools, using specific angles is really difficult at least on the smaller time frames. If you want their pro charts it cost just as much as getting the best charts for Gann trading, like Optuma or Ensign or the charts mentioned in the article., so why not invest in the best? Anyway, that has been my experience so far. So this post is...

You could even use the simple chart-shift of the 4 Octave to get trend direction ?

But to profit you should be able to foreknow the future points . You sound You imply/use the already known data points or price points.
Can you refer me to a post where You mention about your methodology ?
P.s. I have downloaded your presentation "FRACTAL STRUCTURE OF TIME AND PRICE ENGLISH 17.pptx" . It was a nice one. Thanks

Hi everyone, I see some interesting posts related to the work of Martin Armstrong in this thread.
I am a big fan of Marty and his legendary computer model Socrates (Ai) so I had my own version made; Student of Socrates.
This is not nearly as good as the real Socrates, however its pretty damn good for technical anlaysis if you ask me.
Hope you guys will find Student of Socrates useful. In the future I will make a Trading Blog for it as well.

(info)
Student of Socrates

Student of Socrates applies an untraditional type of technical analysis to your charts which is based up on cyclical analysis and is designed to capture the angle of the market as well as potential price reversals.

  1. The angle of the cyclically derived channel gives you a roadmap into the future as to what type of move you can expect;
  2. The steeper the angle the greater the tendency for a market to rally/decline rapidly.
  3. The Reversals tells you when a market can break to the up or downside.

Signals

  1. Buy/Sell signals are formed when price breaks through a bullish/bearish reversal on a closing basis.
  2. Trap Moves are formed when price breaks a reversal but then immediately closes back above/below the breakout-bar.

Important Reversal Note

  1. Most reversal are displayed in advanced, however some (very few) are displayed after the fact that they occurred or as some might say "late". The "late" reversals are formed when a reversal is created inside of a cycle, which causes a delay. Despite the fact of being delayed; these reversals still highlight important events and is not to be rendered from the charts.

Parameters

  1. Short Term Cycles: 1
  2. Long Term Cycles: 25
  3. Buy/Sell Signal: (Reversal): True/False
  4. Trap Move: True/False
  5. Comment Font Size: 8
  6. Bullish Reversal: Lime
  7. Bearish Reversal: MediumOrchid
  8. Buy Signal: Lime
  9. Sell Signal: MediumOrchid
  10. Trap Move: Aqua
  11. Pop-Up Alert: (Reversal): True/False
  12. Email Alert: (Reversal): True/False
  13. Notification Alert: (Reversal): True/False

Memories of Marting Armstrong conference in Philadelphia in December 2011 .

Before , Marty was in jail and published interesting papers and analysis written with a pencil and on paper toilet !

Then Marty is released and organizes a conference in December 2011

As I was part of a group of private investors in Paris, one of my friend Pierre organized a trip to attend the conference.

general idea was :

Parisboy is free, he is retired, he has time to go
Parisboy understands , speaks and read english
Parisboy knows almost all about Waves and Cycles then he (we) could benefit fully from such conference

etc

Budget was around 6.000 $ - Fees 2.500 + plane + hotel + visa + ....etc 50 % coming from Pierre

As I am a serious guy , I read ALL papers I had from Armstrong + all those I could put my hands on trough the net.

Then I made a synthesis of the dispersed thoughts and methodologies Marty sparsed in his papers.

Moreover I read all the "transition" papers Marty send the participants before the Conference.

I was ready ! summarizing all during the flight. Ready for the examination before the Master.

Arrived at friday evening, met 2 other french guys coming also at their expenses. Excellent dinner in a nearby restaurant from Louisiane.

Skype with Pierre : ready to go.

Next morning - Great breakfast with the other participants. 2 nd Skype : READY

During the morning conference , slight deception Marty talked about all and nothing, general life and politics and economy, summarized his story, his life in jail . We knew already all, having read his papers.

I thought : OK Marty has to vent the pressure, it is his first conference AFTER jail, he has to keep synch with us .

Intermede : nice buffet lunch before the afternoon conference . I WAS READY

we came back into the room .

5 Minutes after having put my ass on my chair , I knew I was fucked, that we were fucked.

We found on the table before each of us a copy of a "methodology " paper we had already received (and read and studied) !

And Marty during 4 hours (14 h / 18 h) just READ above paper with some comments.

On a big screen we could see OLD charts published years ago by him, not one were updated

after the conference 3 rd Skype with Pierre : WE WERE FUCKED ! MAN

nice dinner in the same restaurant

the next day 2 conferences of Marty chit-chatting about Congress, laws, The Economy , Gold, Silver etc - kind of small talk answering questions

very nice dinner again after the evening cocktail.

Nice trip, excellent tourism - visit of the Gettysburg Battlefield, roundtrip around Philadelphia with pictures of the Rocky monument, visit of the Declaration of Independence, visit of the USS New Jersey

I WAS FUCKED

Thanks Marty for the excellent food : lobsters and seafood from Louisiana and the good tourism

For the fun :

I came back from Philadelphia to Paris with soaps, napkins, pencils, letter paper, envelopes all with the printed name of the Westin Hotel where was the Conference to prove my friends I REALLY was in Philadelphia and did not stayed in Paris cashing their money !

Thanks Marty

Amazing that you went to the first WEC after jail...the one in "The Forecaster"!
Kinda disapointment that you didnt get more out of it though, I would have very high hopes myself haha

The most interesting WEC Days are the ones with Technical Anlaysis, the other days is just talk.
But at the same time they are the most expensive.

Personally I have yet to attend any of the WEC
But I will in the futrue, maybe I see you there!

Have you had a chance to look at the indicator I posted, and would you mind commenting your thoughts on it?

cheers, good story

Hi Student,
While Parisboy is reliving that GREAT SCREWING in PA lol. I will share with you my thoughts on your Student of Socrates indicator. After quick look it seems to be giving good signals, but without testing it over the long period of time not sure. How successful have you found the signals & how long have you been applying the indicator to the market & what markets other than forex have you tried? Even thought it is plotting many lines & comments on the chart, the chart is really not that cluttered. I will test it over the next week or so & get back to you. For the most part I have long ago abandoned the traditional indicators, but will always take a look see at indicators such as what you have shared. Seems much though has been applied to the coding of this indicator. Are you the coder? Btw any info Parisboy might share with you about cycle, read it & heed it. He's the master of cycles.

I wish you the best with you indicator. I think Ole Marty was given a strong wake up call of some sort while he was in jail. It is sad what happened to him, but I'm sure we know not the rest of the story. I would never pay the prices he commands just to talk about silver, politics & whatever else Parisboy mentioned. I know someone that has his Socrates & its impressive. I have all of his old writings from years back located off the internet & did enjoy reading each one.
Enough about Marty. Best wishes to you STUDENT of SOCRATES.

By the way, another disappointment from Marty !

In the fees paid to attend the WEC 2011 in Philadelphia were included quarterly updates for several markets.

And at the conference Marty told us publicly that we will be given a video of all his interventions which were recorded by a german television team which later produced "The Forecaster".

We never got this video in spite to many calls to Marty's secretary and I saw The Forecaster later in Paris during a private projection for the modest fee of 12 euros !

May I add that despite numerous requests of Pierre to Marty's secretary, he never got the promised updates
