{quote} Hello oordjb, thank you for sharing your trading system. I am actually new to trading forex and came across your system and decided to try it out. My problem right now is that the band that i saw on my trading platform isnt adjustable to -0.8. Also, i could get the LWMA indicator. I wouldn't mind if you can help me out on this two. Thank you

In case you are really new and don’t know how to load the indicators and templates….

Go to the first post in this thread. Right click on each of the attached files listed there, and then save to your desktop.

Then go to your desktop, highlight all the indicators, and then right click on one of them and hit copy. Go to your mt4 platform. Hit File - Open Data Folder - MQL4 - Indicators, and then right click in that file on an open area and hit paste.

Then go back to the desktop, right click on the two templates and hit copy. In the mt4 platform hit File - Open Data Folder - Templates, and then right click in that file on an open area and hit paste.

Then go to one of your charts, right click and hit Template, and you should see the two templates in there. Hit one of them and it will appear on your chart.

On the chart you can then right click, hit Indicator List and you will see all the indicators there. Click on the one you want to see the parameters on.

One note for anyone trying to load the Bollinger bands themselves – you can’t load two of them with the same period. So the second one you would have to put in a different period for it to show up. Then go to the Indicators List and change it back to the same period as the first one.

Hope that helps.

Regarding false signal, I totally agree that you shouldn't just rely on a single signal. All of indicators are there to give you its own signal - one way or another - and you should use your own way to confirm if signal is correct or false.

Once there is signal, you also have to check other facts like S/R, Pivots, higher frame trend etc before you make your own entry.

This system by oordjb proves to be a great compliment on top of my own trading system. Based on my testing, this 4H Entry Signal works great for those pair with higher volatility like GBPJPY. for lessor volatile pair like EURUSD, I found this system works better with Daily TF.

For me, I have own system but I thought this 4H Entry Signal system is very interesting as I use BB and MACD a lot in my signals.
Below is my own adaptation of this 4H_Entry Signal system where I added few more indicators to confirm reversals and entry signals.
As you can see, there is few signals by TSR but not confirmed by other signals.

Blue Rain - If that is what works best for you then use it that way, absolutely. I prefer a less crowded chart but I know many traders like multiple confirmations.

Anyway, I'm going to give you another chart to chew on in a minute.

Over the weekend I was looking at some of the other templates that I considered in coming to this current Entry Signal system. Thought I would pass on one of them, the Ichi MA system. Hope this chart comes out:

This system is just as good as the original one I posted, but they have different pros and cons. It can give re-entry signals that the other system does not, but it may give more false signals.
Rules:
{C}- When the Ichimoku is below the MA only Long trades are taken
{C}- When the Ichimoku is above the MA only Short trades are taken
{C}- When in a Long trend if Price comes below the MA by 8-10 pips a re-entry can be taken when Price comes back above the MA
{C}- When in a Short trend if Price comes above the MA by 8-10 pips a re-entry can be taken when Price comes back below the MA

The system can be used with or without the two window indicators.

You could use both templates as a complimentary system, but I wouldn’t put them on the same chart. That would make you dizzy.

Thanks for sharing your trading system with us. It really seems to be a straight forward system, following tight rules. Perfect for writing an EA... while I was thinking of the indicators to use, I remembered one EA I was using once in a while: the "blessing EA".
Some threads about this EA can be found in this forum.
For a free download of the mq4 file and a very detailed documentation follow this link:
https://www.jtatoday.com/blessing.html

The EA contains following indicators that can be used as entry signals:

  1. Moving Average (MA)
  2. Commodities Channel Index (CCI)
  3. Bollinger Band (BB)
  4. Stochastic (Stoch)
  5. MACD Indicator

Now the challenge would be to create set files that follow the rules oordjb stated in the first post. The set file of the "blessing EA" contains many, many parameters...

Thanks for introducing this EA.

I think I have tried this EA some time ago but since I wasn't an avid user of EA , maybe until I have solid manual trading style established, I didn't pay attention before.Just tried this EA as is and it seems it is producing some profit in USDJPY as per PDF. But when I tried to GBPJPY, it was losing.

Since it has so many configs, it might be an challenge but I will see where it goes.

Thanks for the EA. I know EAs are very popular and a lot of people trade them, but I'm a little old fashioned - maybe a lot old fashioned. I like the hands-on trading. But if someone wants to make a specific EA for this, I would suggest the Ichi Ma template from post 25 and 26. I think that would lend itself more to an EA.

I have a couple friends who trade forex, and we share indicators and systems as we develop them, or find something interesting. Both of them have been using the Ichi Ma (with only the CCIchannel indicator). They told me the Ichi Ma is a much better system because the entries are clearer and there are multiple entry opportunities. If anyone has tried both templates I would be interested in knowing which one is preferred.

And someone asked me via private message to put more info out concerning the system - SL, TP, etc. As I mentioned in the first post those things vary per trader, but I will try to put out a few of my trading methods soon. Things are crazy for me right now, so I don't have a lot of time. Hopefully soon.

Some days ago I (unfortunately) posted a set file that contained a wrong setting (just the MA indicator as entry). Over the weekend I had much -but not enough- time to play around with the zillions of parameters the blessing EA has. Trying to put the idea of oordjb into set files for the blessing EA.
Not easy. It is the nature of forex, that different pairs have different behaviours. Especially different frequencies and amplitudes. What might work for EURUSD is maybe useless for GBPNZD. And more, which is essential in all trading: a good risk and money management needs to be defined.
As oordjb, I like to sleep well...

-->I do not want to mess around with oordjb's thread. What about opening a new one like "migrating the 4 hour Entry Signal into Blessing EA"?

Here is a result using MAEntry=1; CCIEntry=2 with the corresponding indicator parameters from oordjb

Conservative risk and money management. Roundabout 9% win per ano (100% over 8 years). Okay, not the the "wow result", but at least the simulation did not blow my account. And it was a first shot in the dark.
Even survived US elections and Brexit...
Will try on demo, too bad xmas is coming ;-((

oordjb, I'd like to try your system on the daily time frame. What changes to the BB and MA settings would you suggest?

Thanks!

When I said “any timeframe” I was probably speaking a little too quickly. I’m not sure what there would be to change in a move to the Daily charts. I think the changes would come in play for lower timeframes, but the indicators are set to pretty quick parameters as it is. To go up to the Daily the change would be to a lower MA and BB and I’m not sure that would work.

I started this thread calling it the Entry Signal because I thought a lot of people would use it as an entry confirmation. The real name of the system is “MA is in the Band” – . The reason being that the MA is always between the BBs, and, to me, that’s what makes it work. But even lowering the MA from a 4 to a 3 means it would sometimes wander outside the bands, so you would have to adjust the bands as well. I don’t know how well that would work. And using the indicators as is would probably get you into the trade a candle too late.

All I can tell you is to play around with it but I’m not too optimistic. The Ichi MA might be the better system to play with on the daily charts. On that system I would probably look for entries when Price moves above/below both the MA and the Ichimoku by a certain number of pips – regardless of whether or not the indicators are in the right alignment. I’m just guessing there, but I think that would work pretty well on the Daily charts.

Wish you the best with it.
