I suppose it's because this is a trend continuation strategy, not a reversal one.

It is considered on a larger scale but for that to be considered as a bearish reversal we need a wave 3 ( No divergence ) However if continue your line down when / if the histogram breaks the trend ling up would indicate going long.

..also your not taking into consideration whats going on underneath

You could try using a Harmonic pattern scanner for help find potential setups and refer them back to the macD for conformation ? just an idea
