Trading is for loners:)

I have a maxim: listen to others, but learn on your own. It doesn't work for me to trade in groups and talk too much to others about techniques. I just get confused that way, and don't feel empowered to make my own decisions.

Yes, it's for loners when you are trading, but don't give up the parties!
The framework is there; we just have to work on our frame of mind.

I find that Trading is more personal that's why it appears to be for loners. For me it has always been kind of "my thing" a sort of spiritual quest.

To some extent I agree on the last line that people who are not that good at socializing tend to have that traits that make up a good trader because at the time of making financial decisions they prioritize research and deliberation. They avoid impulsive trading, take their time to understand their investments and tend to be calmer.

Good topic since I think many traders can relate,

I don't think being fx interested makes you anti-social or that people with social anxiety would be better traders.
I think that because fx is such a geeky and a very hard challenge does, that it affects people who might somehow see our society and system in a perspective.

Trading attracts ambitious and brave people who aren't afraid of going against the herd and got guts to take on a profession which no one understands (that's also why it can feel lonely). Credit, therefore, will be well fought for. Trading is for open-minded and personal/individual freedom searchers/lovers.

Fx is for dreamers who dare to risk everything for a very small chance, but if we succeed, we truly found something unique.

hey bentley..... there are no tricks...... over time we learn which habits to avoid and which habits to follow..... once learned, reliability comes from our ability to avoid or follow those......

trading does not have to be a loner deal..... you just have to be careful who your not alone with......h
to trade and code, keep both simple... no call to impress....h

It's the self-reliance of traders that makes them unusual.

Loners (or introverts) are more accustomed to self-reliance as they will have practised it more throughout their life.

Ha i never thought of myself as a loner, I can count my true friends on one hand but we rarely speak they probably think I'm ignorant as I don't reply or hang out with them. But I do conciser them 100% Diamonds.

I’m thinking about it now.
Indeed, I am far from being a loner.
I love to be in the spotlight, I like communicating with people.
Maybe that's why I have a difficult relationship with Forex
But I do not despair, I find different ways to make money on Forex. If trading fails, I look for other ways

I think things are changing.
People are now trading in groups.
Just for example, I met one group last weekend in a random. They kind of like trading like this rather than being alone.

I would disagree. Its not for loners. People on various forex discussion forums discuss their trading styles, strengths/weaknesses and strategies. Its no way for loners.

You trade to make money, what difference does it make how you do it?

The most successful tend to focus on the system or the process so to speak, the money becomes a bi- product of that, what difference does it make, what company you keep whilst experiencing or executing that process?

Money is really only a drawbridge to bring you closer to an experience you have imagine or fantasied about, what difference does it make who you made it with, or perhaps that was the experience in itself

Agreed, that goes for me as well. I won’t say that people who like to stay alone, only they trade, but rather, people who trade prefer doing it alone. A lot of concentration is required to strategize properly here, for which its better that a person sits away from the crowd.

Agreed, people do share their views and everything, but don’t you think when it comes to applying those strategies in the market, every trader does need his/her space and time? Not that they prefer staying alone, but just for that particular time.
