Great thread Moty and thanks very much for the awesome tip about using the macd for my trade entry ... Ive been playing around with this tonight on a 5 minute chart and Ive added in some things onto the overall strategy so hopefully, I can get some decent results.

Generally speaking, it looks like this approach does really well when price is trending (but not so much in choppy markets like you've said). Therefore, my play on this strategy is to use a 1 hour chart for a longer term perspective. I actually set up two price charts next to each other so that I can see how a trend is playing out on the 1 hour whilst waiting for entries on the 5 minute. If price looks like it is consolidating in any way on the 1 hour, Ill stay out of any trades and will just look for another pair to trade this on.

I think the perfect trade set up for me is to see a nice trend on the 1 hour and I want to see a nice little pullback. On the 5 minute, I can clearly see the pullback happening and then I just wait for the macd histogram crossover in alignment with the long term tend direction. I can also enter if I see a moving average crossover (40 ema and 110 ema) and/or a trendline break of the retracement (on the 5 minute chart). All of these are giving me confidence that price is returning into the longer term direction and because we've just had a retracement, it gives me confidence that price will run in my favour for some time.

I will also be drawing in some s/r lines from the 1 hour / 4hour chart to help give me some added perspective about where I can expect price to reverse from on the 5 minute chart. If I am trading 7 - 9 pairs, this should bring me plenty of opportunities to trade good & safe set ups with the macd crossover being my centrepiece.

Thanks again Moty. This was just what I was looking for. Ill keep people posted with how the strategy goes. I dont mean to sway anyway in their own trading. Im still making my way towards profitability so im certainly no expert! Just wanted to share with others in the interests of helping.

This is an example trade that I would be taking and shows you what I mean by trendline breaking, macd crossing over and the soon to be moving average crossover. I really like having a longer term perspective on my charts but thats just what works for me :-)

Hi, sorry to come to this party so late, but I was wondering, other than the EMA separation indicator crossover, what other signal do you use? In what capacity is ADR indicator used? Is it for take profit/take loss levels or to signal entry?
Do you wait for the crossover confirmation of some kind, because it seems as if it could be days when you do nothing but open and close trades. If anyone can shed some light on that, but it seems simple enough for me to give it a try as I need something simple to work, but not too simple to rely on luck, if you know what I mean

Yes, but I'm using Tradingview.

Indicators you need:

EMA MTF
EMA Difference

You go to 1 min chart and set the first EMA MTF to EMA13 and 15min as timeframe. Then you set the second EMA MTF to EMA21 and 15 min as timeframe.
Then you put the EMA Difference indicator and change the settings to EMA13 and EMA21.

Conditions to short:

Price is under the MTF EMA13 and EMA21 and the Difference Indicator starts showing red (below 0)
When to exit? This is up to you to decide.

Conditions to long:

Price is above MTF EMA13 and EMA21 and the Difference Indicator starts showing green (above 0)
When to exit? This is up to you to decide.

For additional confluence you can use the Hull Suite Indicator either on same TF chart or on a higher TF chart to guide your bias. With this indicator you have the option to wait for it to turn green/red and then enter which can be considered a more safer option than the original conditions which are more aggressive.
