...So, from a design standpoint, yes, it's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. But forex is very empirical and, as it turns out, with some fiddling you can get the square peg to fit.
just a few thoughts because the debate over the "round hole" reminded me of the Procrustes bed...

I have to disagree that the 50% setting act as 100 % ADR setting. The 20xADR stays the same on all timframes till the new day begins. I know what you are saying that 50 % adr gives many good opputunitys since the market makers mostly drive it first down and then up or the other way. But with 100% settings they have much little room to manipulate. I think maybe one must run some stats on what time on what pair they drive it how far to reverse intraday. But simply saying 50+50 isn`t logic because it is 100% ADR will not work as good.

What do I mean: the ADR is calculated from the prices (H/L), and that has no relation to the Moving Average.

In the LazyTMA thread I calculated the Husky bands with "adaptive" ADR, where the distances TMA/High and TMA/Low are calculated separately.
For the bands one can consider two variants:
- Moving average of the distances plus (for Highs), minus (for Lows) 1, 2 or 3 StdDev
- Sort the calculated values and take the median value (position 0.5) or (position 0.8) of the complete array.
