Looking at the size of your tick data file, you haven't got the data contained within the requested range which is the beginning of January this year unless you just downloaded that date range only.

My corresponding tick data file from the 1st Jan 2016 is 2GB.

The other scenario is that if you have multiple MT4 installations, you have placed the data in the incorrect terminal data area. (\?xxxxxxxxxxxxxx?\MQL4\Files

Hi,

I have tried trading with quite a number of EA's based on the MA cross strategy but all the results have been rubbish. Has anyone who follow this thread ever found a MA cross EA to work?

I have an indicator that appears to give good results but I cannot be in front of the screen all the time, so I am going to test it using a trading simulator, if it proves out OK will need some help and guidance to formulate how to sort out the coding aspects as there are some variations than just the crossing of two MA's and all I have is the ex4 file. Hopefully I can receive some from the Master of this great thread.

Hi Dave - great work you have done creating this platform, my hat goes off to you.

I have only just began "playing" with Agility Trader2.

I have noticed the following and wonder if you have some reasoning of the results.

I entered some RSI and SMA values for buy and sell conditions and ran Backtest. Then I ran the same parameters for optimization including multiplier and was happy with a particular set of results. I restarted AG2 then entered those same result figures and ran a backtest, which I would have assumed would end up with the same results as previous.

I found that the figures for the first optimization showed profit of $460, yet backtest on very same parameters showed -$105 return.

I tried this on quite a number of varying values and strategies with same result.
I figured that being the case no need to supply you with txt file etc. Apart from that - with the free trial version I am unable to save preset files anyway.

I love what you have done here and really do appreciate your time and effort. So to quote Pauline Hanson, Could you "please explain".

For the life of me I just cannot get any results from backtest on AG2.
All I was trying to do was get results of candle crossing above and closing above 50MA, and opening a buy order. That's it.

Why is it so hard?

The strategy choice "Any Bullish Candle" relates to a Candlestick recognition strategy not a single candle and cannot be used the way you are trying to use it.

The correct strategy is

And in 1 bars Close 0 0 0 0 Greater Than Close 0 0 0 1 (this is a comparision of the last close being greater than the previous close, shift value is 1)
And in 1 bars Close 0 0 0 0 Crosses Above SMA 50 0 0 0

That will give the last closed bullish candle closing above SMA50.

Please consider using the latest version of Agility Trader.

What has been changed between Agility Trader 3 and Agility Trader 4?
Are there any good setfiles for the Agility Trader 4 that I can test? I downloaded one RSI 60 min here on forexfactory, which I guess was for the Agility Trader 3. Not sure if I can use the old setfiles with the new version?
But when I tested this in the companion program I didn't get any profitable trades when running the optimizer and not when backtesting either.

Would be great to see some example setfiles based on more than one indicator. But I'm new to this, so maybe I just missed something?

Let's say, I want a strategy taking trades when two EMAs cross and the Stoch is oversold/overbought.
How would this be done in the companion? Any ideas?

I think I might understand more how it works when seeing something like that. Or something similar.
