Do you convince yourselves not to take a trade

Do you procrastinate and convince yourselve not to take a trade only to see become a winner and what are you thinking after

Of course! I convince myself that... But not due to the procrastination but because of the "learn when not to trade" "rule".. that kept me profitable over the last 10years... If there weren't for that rule... I would have have blown or "return" all the profits to the market (when it was a mess... just see the last week).. specially when central banks were playing monopoly in 2011+... and do not get me mentioned EU debt situation (GR etc...) "in the past"... Some called some of the period(s) as "No Drama Obama".. when they were trying to "settle" everything out. Calling each other (one central bank "chief" or president calling them.. saying "figure something out, calm the markets"... with DEBT of course.. ("prediction") Models of 40years went bust... some famous hedge fund(er)... They did traded in those times.. the result is clear At markets there are no guarantees people are maybe used from somewhere else... For example.. If something has been working for 1year or 40years.. does not make much of a guarantee that we can expect the same thing... Typical was "real estate" situation.... before it did crack... Good clip btw:)
So what is best, in my book anyway.. is to knowing/suspecting when it might be BEST not to trade... Yeah we might lose some potential profits.. but overall..
So this rule combined with "do not chase the loses"... kept/saved me from many black holes

No, I don't care whether I am winner or I am a looser. I don't care about pips. When you start to feel nothing about your trading, you have a chance to become successful trader. In your case, described emotions after a good raw of profits and then catching a huge loss, possibly with margin call.

Also, I believe many things in life/nature are "symmetric" (math chart wise +/-).. meaning that if one gets very emotional at WINs... he MIGHT be a complete WRECK at loses... This is a good test of a trader... "let" him win.. or watch him at wins... the more emotional he will get, the greater chance that you have a timebomb there... very risky to give him considerable AUM for a direct execution/trading...

I see that you are experienced trader That is why every serious trader dreams of PULLING out asap and LEAVE the racket aka RETIRE... but still play on the side
I mean I have been trading for 10+ years, with dark times/ages of course... (glad for the "not trading" rule , and I am AWARE that it might be OVER in the next trade But I do have separate strategies... for HARVEST.. from conservative up to the "burners"... I will trade4life however, most probably... with pauses (my dream is to trade, intensively.. just for certain part of the year... the rest for long-term investments/positions, SET and FORGET/WAIT).. just want to pull as much money and as quickly as possible... out of the market and park it somewhere more stable... Basically... "normal" people or normal business people... from let's say conservative, low-return but more stable professions DREAM of "WALL STREET" profits... while many people from WS dream of having STABLE income (even being a farmer... instead of not knowing everyday... if they will be sacked/sued or "called" OR on to the (fast) route to becoming millionaire/billionaire or even T... GREATEST (potential) GAP in any profession (zero/hero etc...), if you ask me... no wonder many go nuts... The old "dream" was to "retire before 30" in the WS at least... now, with online tools (online/prop/home trading) etc... age is not that important... but I believe the general idea is the same... RUN like hell once you get "the number" That has been my observation... I believe in the mix... Like keeping certain money in "conservative" fix income etc... standard (gold, stocks, bonds, energy!, cash, LAND!)... BUT trade on the side... with different harvest strategies maybe... depends what kind of personality they are... BTW very good show that I watched about the "needed" personality of a trader... Trading is hard as it is... but emotions/fixations/principles.. can wipe one out before he even begins I mean the things some people did.. they would LOST the house (or/and life savings) even if they would have DIRECT inside info 5 hours before the high-economic news

one famous fx hedge fund.. the founder was in the business for 40years.. their model based on "cycles" was EPIC.. until it failed badly.. wiped the fund and I think the founder also or at least hit him HARD He somewhat restored after (but not the fund), I think.. with consulting services... don't know much else.. no-one seems to be inviting him on the big shows of course and he was regarded as almost the prophet before... with Billions AUM...

Just to be clear, for others.. Trading is good, can be extremely profitable.. It might just be good to be aware of the "other side" also, just in case
And yeah, I am trying to explain to some of the traders that BURNERS (high-risk trades but with potential epic profits) are just that... burners... trying to roll is as fast as high as possible and try to PULL before peak! Some people expect that the EPIC returns will be stable and constant... Well it is possible it is just that I do not think it is likely otherwise markets would dry out because of the power of EXP function, should someone really found a way to make for example x10 per month "forever"

just for certain part of the year... - its a game with time, don't you think so? Based on previous years? How will you know when to trade? I am impressed by traders who knows when to trade, because time-based strategy it's actually ...

trade intensely I meant Because certain trading strategies get so intense.. it can not be sustained for too long... news or "TWEET" trading, scalping, watching very intensely for "burners" meaning high/max-leverage trade (entries) etc... those kind of things.. opportunities like those are through the year... But yeah, for "normal" trading.. specially long-term, lower-risk... have to be over the year, can not just (maybe) select/predict/decide just one golden part as one chooses... agree with you there... Hope I was clearer

BUT! If I could choose.. I would not trade 2weeks before new year and 2weeks after Would skip full summer.... would trade intensely in the FALL however, very nice times to trade, I do not know why Maybe because of the christmas bonuses (hunt) (also)
