Can anyone reprogram FB v2 to take reverse (opposite) trades on all signals (if it shows buy signal, it would sell and etc). I have a theory I wanna test, but unfortunately failed to make the right changes.

That feature is easy to code, and the code was posted by myself and others in this thread (or maybe it was the original FB thread?). But the wins/losses % worked out to be nearly identical in forward and back testing as the market still varies from TradingRange to Trending... you are still left with the same situation in that FB works in only one mode and not both. All the reversed FB did was now allowed you to be marginaly profitable in a Trend.

maybe one can answer my following question because
its program related.

First of all I must say, that I know that this is an ongoing
process and I know that certain comments within the source code weren't updated to the latest version.
But I found something that seem at least so strange
that I can't help asking if this was indeed intended to
be like this.

I refer to Firebird-v63H04-TS

(1) The property "percent" is stated in the comments
at the beginning of the source code as 2 per cent
and is initialized later with 0.05 and I use in my
settings 0.02

I assume that the envelope SHOULD be 0.2 per cent
above/under the MA(10) ?

(2) Later in the source code the value of the envelope
will be calculated with:

myMA*(1+Percent/100)

This would result in an extremly narrow envelope
since the setting is again divided by 100 .

My question: is this narrow channel intended ?

Hi folks.

I am trying to understand how the Trailing Stop feature works on Firebird. I am running 63H04-TS version on a live account, and it is doing fine. I have a lot of trades that are stopped out by the TS, which I am ok with. However, I don't understand at what poing FB moves the S/L up and to what point.

For example, if I have a T/P of 50 pips, and a T/S of 30, when does FB move the S/L up and to where? Does it move it to break even first? My settings have smaller TP and TS, generally around 25TP and 18TS. But my trades are closing out between 10 - 15pips in the positive. I was considering using multiple lots, but I want to fully understand what's going on before I do that.

let say your trailingstop set to 30,

once your positions is +30 pips

then, your stop loss will move to currentbid-5pips for buy order, and currentask+5 pips ' for sell order.

in wackena's firebird trailingstop code, after stoploss moved once, it will not move any further even your position is +80pips, or +120pips.

i wished there's someone who can code the latter part of trailingstop, like in the next +30 pips, stoploss will move again.

I'm not too sure about that Chad. The way the TS has worked for me is in this sence, say my TS is 10pips, upon hitting 10pips, the TS moves my SL to breakeven, then every other equal move, it will again adjust the SL pip by pip, which is why i can close out in some positions with anywhere from 1-49 pips, even though my TP is 50, because the TS moved my SL to that point.

can u show me the code line of your 'trailing stop' routine ?

okay i was mistaken about the move to break even, it does do the routine you mentioned of bid-5 and ask+5, sorry about that. but it does continue to adjust it every chance it gets, not just once. it just the standard TS routine from 63g-TS2, thats what i'm using. I can't post it as i'm not at my home computer. hopefully wackena can address your issue of it only moving once, because as far as i know it should do it any chance it gets, assuming the qualifiactions are met, which is how it works for me..

Does any one have a problem back testing FB v2 with timeframes (openinghour/closing hour). Everytime I try I get no results (my timeframes are at least 12 hours)

What i can state, without hauling out copies of my demo reports is that my testing over the last several weeks on non-jpy pairs do best from European open (1hr before London open) through about 11am New York (just before their lunch time, and Europe/London bankers are closing shop.) Most loosing trades for my demo tests have opened in the Asian session.

I have my to-trade hours set accordingly.

it's '63g-ts2' after all. So, have u fully understand the trailing stop function in this EA?

if u got time, mind to post your TS rountine of 63-TS2 ? I like to compare the results from both of the versions.

there's a 'piploss' parameter in the EA, default is 500, change to 5000 or anything higher.

Thats interesting.............Most of my losses originated during the heavy trading - Euro/USA sessions, mind sharing setup for your FB.

Hi there, i am running 3 MT4 IBFX demo (GMT on server) accounts as follows on 5m charts:

FB 63H04 defaults time to trade 0/24 on UsdChf, UsdCad, EurUsd, EurChf

FB 63H04-TS defaults time to trade 0/24 on UsdChf, UsdCad, EurUsd, EurChf

FBv2 defaults (except close loosing trades set to false**) time to trade 6/16 on UsdChf, UsdCad, EurUsd, EurChf

**A note on the FBv2 "close loosing trades" setting. I noticed (and asked the Q last week) that if there are loosing trades going into the weekend if the setting would include the non-trading-hours of the weekend in it's calculations. Yes it will. So last Friday, with three loosing trades at -60ish or greater average, i decided to turn this feature to false in my default setting as i wanted to give the trades at leaset a day or two in the new week to see if they would recover. They did so in today's (Monday) trading session. All three closed out in profit. The CAD had S/L kick in and closed at +11, E/U TP hit at +25, CHF TP hit at +25. This was a case when closing out the trades would have taken a big hit on the account. Though i realize the market could have also continued against the EA's entries. Just typing that last sentence out is an interesting thought. I used to blame everything on my Mamma wearing combat boots, or the sun in my eyes...grin.

Out of curiosity did you ever compare "real time" results with backtesting?
