pray for me to surivive this month.. also do you have issue with mt4(ICmarkets) when news released.. most of the time my mt4 freezes.. giving me headaches eventhough i dont trade news..

I certainly hope you make it out the other side but so far so good.

I do not make a habit of trading during high impact news although ofcourse I have at times.

How exactly is the MT4 platform on IC giving you headaches ?

been hearing a lot recently about spreads being widened by 20 odd pips by IC on ECN RAW and also peoples platforms crashing during news release too, they been going downhill recently it seems..

yes but today during USD news gbp pairs spread widen by 12-14 pips and hit proper sl then went to profit zone, caused big loss.. stupid brokers

i dont trade news too but if i hold my existing trades during news then it gives me headache either it hits tp or sl or price move in between entry and sl and i stuck whether to close or not.. MT4 freezes during release most of the time.. yesterday during euro and usd news my mt4 freezed and i restarted it but today no issue yet spread widen for gbp pairs during USD news caused a big loss only because of spread. those profitable trades become losers..


MT4 freezing is a big issue for me. also now a days spread widen abnormally(its part of it but widening spread for other pairs news during usd pairs seems to be unfair. if it during any monetary meeting or rate cuts then fine but for gdp and other things too, its widening. didnt faced this issue 1 year back i think..

Yes spread will definitely widen at or near high impact (or medium impact) news, this has been known for many years.

Most if not all brokers will show increased spread not only IC.

My primary account is with Interactive Brokers and yes they also show an increase in spread across multiple asset classes.

As traders we need to be very aware of the environment in which we deal and make adjustments based on our trading strategies.

This means reducing exposure during high impact news events such as:

a) closing positions at least 15-30 minutes prior to news release;
b) if trades are going to run on through high impact news think about reducing trading volume allowing for increased stop distance;
c) run simple spread tests using observation of broker spread widening during news when no positions are open;
d) build up a news spread expectation so you have a reasonable idea about the typical ranges spread takes on;
e) alter your trading strategy such that you avoid these high impact news events;
f) or if trading high vol positions with relatively small stops that the market is very likely to take you out.

I find no issues regarding higher spread around news releases because I already have an appreciation for what has occurred in the pst and built up an expectation of what is very likely to occur in the future.

I recommend that you perform some deeper spread profile analysis or get hold of an indicator that maps out spread profile and let it run in the background across several brokers of interest.

This will allow you to make informaed comparisons between competing brokers.

An alternative is to google the web or the forums and see if recent or current spread tests have been performed by another tester/trader.

ps. As for MT4 freezing, yes this is possible across any broker at any time and can be due to several reasons, if it occurs during the times you prefer to apply your trading strategy in the market, first decide if you are prepared to put up with it and if not then research other broker alternatives as they are NOT all the same.

Unfortunately, if the date is not updated very soon your account may miss the cut-off and not be included in this week's update.

I recommend that Post 1 be viewed often as I will make important updates on a regular basis.

it's new start... thats my friend account and we are working together(as of now i am. he lost so much. he want me to recover). i have issue with my account because of documents..i havent changed the setting not just to participate in this thread( i replied to your thread after sometime when i saw yours, i changed just because to track my performance...started working on this account 3 weeks before and recovered almost but lost those profits because of my stupid emotions and went against my system. i just want to keep myself motivated.so why i dont want to see those drawdown which he brought..

ok yes thanks for the suggestions.i appreciate.. yeah spread widen during news.i accept that but mt4 frozen but will be careful from now on.. these things messed up this week.. thanks for pointing out solutions for this..

Post 1 has now been updated.

GPro HRT Leaderboards have been updated with current end of week rankings.

Well done to the 3 traders

There are 3 more trading days remaining in July before I update 'permanent' monthly Top GPro HRT Trader rankings for both categories.

Looking forward to seeing fireworks from the brave traders willing to put it on the line.

ps. any errors in the rankings please advise asap so I can update them in a timely manner.

ok i hope that am doing good as of now.. still trades running.. i have one question.. i am afraid to hold long trades and i am good at holding short trades till it reach target.. today i closed euraud long trades prematuredly..i always afraid about long position.. any solution? why this kinda feeling? i prefer short trades and holding it but dunno why..

Why are you afraid? It's not about long or short trades, it's about what action that triggered your emotion.
Don't get me wrong it's normal to feel emotions during trading, but what caused your fear?

Have you followed your system's trading rules?
If YES and you still feel fear it's because you are not confident enough with your trading system, do more back-test, meditate, follow the plan.
If NO is normal to feel fear! Because you basically lose track of your trading plan and holding on to trades without cutting losses due to greed.

Stay calm, and re-evaluate your trades. Trade safe

i dunno why i fear... short trades feels like dropping a ball from high building and long trades feels like throwing the ball to that building high... lol.. i feel like this...so why for me short trades looks easy.. it will fall quick and reach target(ground) but for long trades i always afraid..

and about my system..i follow it perfectly most of the time..sometime i go by emotion.. my entries based on indicator and following trend.. exits based on recent high ow low for sl and for target it's same.sometime i will hold it for big profit(till it reach major snr). my system good at it... like you mentioned i cut loss when i follow my system perfectly.. if i didnt follow my trading system and took a trade then i hold that one stupid trade.. like now i hold a heding position..i scaped a lot and still holding that AU trade till tomorrow night or friday... sometime mind messup more often than markets
