@Den77 -- thanks for the report, I will check into it. For the most part the two EAs use exactly the same code, so this would surprise me. But stranger things have happened.

@SwingMan -- thanks. I should have been more clear. It's not just that it has to be unique. It also needs to include the time frame. Also, when I was developing portfolio EAs there was a GroupID to keep track of which "family" a particular strategy belonged to.

It also needs to be something easy to remember. Since the first two digits represent the symbol and the next one the time frame, and the numbers are sequential, then after awhile you can glance at the 'Comment' column and quickly see how things are trading.

And I agree there is more than one way. Since I already had the other one then I chose to continue using it.

@RougeTrader -- I believe you have the wrong settings for that time frame -- but it's hard to tell.

When you post a snippet of a chart -- no symbol, no time frame, no x-axis -- what am I supposed to do? Is it really so difficult to post a screen shot of the entire chart?

the settings are the ones shown in my earlier post.

Hi R4M,

When I looked to what the EA was doing this morning it seems to be opening a new trade every hour, so with it being on the H1, I guess that must be the built in logic providing all other trigger conditions are met.

Now all the new trades have different TP's and none of them are the Midline Cross, will they all close at the same time based on "Close all on Exit signal" and if so what will that signal be? in other words which TP will the EA pick, because the Midline Cross is way above any of the TP's.

What I didn't mention yesterday and what confused me because of our earlier correspondence was the every first trade the EA opened there was NOT an indicator loaded on the chart and I thought it required the indicator to be on the chart to enable it to take trading instructions.

I've tried ttfractal. It was repainted, but I had already expected it. So I like to use it with BD ADR. The ADR also tested 20 to 50 for less than 100 and found that 20 and 50 were falsehood , and that was followed by a 100 signal.

So we need something to deal with the 20-50 false signal, and we have to be patient. I think this is the manipulation of a rich man.

@Robot Trader -- great questions. I will attempt to answer a few and if I miss something then please follow-up.

Regarding TP -- TakeProfit is treated exactly like StopLoss. When a new position is opened a request is sent to the broker. The request specifies how many lots, the current price, a stoploss (which is some offset from the current price), and a takeprofit (which is also some offset from the current price). So, every order has its own SL and TP.

In terms of priorities, the SL and TP will always take priority because they are registered with the broker. If the current price meets the condition of the SL or TP then that trade is closed. Exit conditions are code executing in the EA. If there are no open trades then Exit conditions have no effect.

If there are one or more open trades at the time an Exit condition is detected then all open trades are closed. And this makes sense, right? Because at the time trades are opened they don't know the future and don't know when or where a midline Exit would occur.

If a midline Exit occurs before a TP, then the midline Exit would close all open trades.

The EA does rely on the indicator, but it loads it as a DLL in the background. So, the indicator still must exist in your Indicators folder in order for the EA to find it and load into memory. When the EA loads the indicator then MT4 hides all visual markings.

Not all EAs require a separate indicator since some embed the indicator code inside the EA. I chose to keep them separate.

If you like, you can attach the indicator to the same chart the EA is running and see the markings. But the EA is not using those markings.

LTF and Fractals

The new LTF version of the BD strategy uses CC (Consecutive Candles) and / or Fractal indicators to generate Entry signals. For CC, an Entry signal is generated on the same bar as its green or red arrow. For fractals there is a lag.

In the initial LTF version I only required the fractal to be above / below a band to qualify as an Entry signal. @bishopdotun suggested this should be modified to also check that the Open tick of the new bar is above / below a band as well. In this way the fractal-generated Entry signal will be more reliable.

Before making the change to the R4M-BD-LTF indicator I decided to instead modify the standalone version of the fractal indicator and let others also take a look at how the fractal Entry signal is generated. And if there is agreement then I'll migrate the change into the R4M-BD-LTF indicator and it will become part of the BD LTF strategy.

Here is the modified, standalone fractal indicator:

The screen shot below shows the modified fractal indicator on an M15 chart. The squares are the fractal markings, and the purple and blue dots are the Entry Signals. You can see the purple and blue dots are offset by one bar and always occur at the Open of the next bar. This offset is a parameter that can be changed -- I'm using a default of '1' which seems to work well. The fractal indicator recalculates but does not repaint. If you were to overlay @SwingMan's fractal indicator on top of this one you would see these fractals match closely with his Level-2 fractals. The fractal indicator I started with is called "True Fractals Bands AA TT".

In the screen shot below I then overlayed the CC (Consecutive Candles) indicator. You should ignore the red and green arrows that fall inside the bands, but note that the red and green arrows that lie outside the bands match closely with the purple and blue dots generated by the fractal indicator. This is good -- they confirm one another. Another thing I noticed is the fractal dots often times occur one or two bars earlier than the CC arrows.

This is true!

The fractals Level 1 are caused by a retracement, and the CC by a continuation of the PriceAction.

One can consider very well on sections without F or CC signals the classic 3-black crows or 3-white soldiers

@SwingMan -- that's interesting -- thanks.

BTW -- have you seen this fractal implementation? The fractals it generates seem to match closely with your Level-2, but not exactly. Plus, there doesn't appear to be a lag when run under Strategy Tester. I like its behavior, but really don't understand how it works the way it does.

The fractals Level-2 compare the position of the fractals Level-1, we know that.

"True Fractals" uses a distance (e.g., parameter 18) of the classic fractals, so some fractals Level-1 are ignored. But I would not do without this ...

I don't know whether it is realistic to getting similar results on live trading...but it should be worthy of giving it an attempt on forward testing, although it requires much patience because of just about 2 trades per week on average...

@jdva -- very nice.

Two trades per week isn't so bad if you are trading 28 pairs. I think that is one of the most powerful features of @bishopdotun's strategy -- it works across all pairs.
