Strat's PASR Long Term, Stress Free Trading

I had moved the SL lower yesterday and that was taken today for a gain of roughly 180 pips.

I 've looked at both topics several times, and I still can't master the method. 5 % of this part has taught me for several months. My understanding ability may also have something to do with translation software. I have to work hard.

Did you break even overall on your long? I'm currently short on EURNZD looking to follow it further down.

Finally, I have set a pending order on EURUSD 1 hr chart, picture taken a little before the close of the candle, but still gets the idea. Price failed to break the 1.13 big round number, then failed to reach the previous high. I'm looking to ride it lower, with a ~25 pip stop loss about the high.

I am Long on EURUSD.
If you trade on H1, then your boss is H4. But I didn't see any sell signal on H4 until now.
If this H4 candle closed below the 20ema and made a BEEB, I would change my view.

I did want to see a retest, but that is a strong bar down:

On my chart the boss gapped down and formed a BEOB, not an engulfing candle (BEEB). It gapped down again the following week.

7/10 shows a BEOB on the daily for me just a few points short of a BEEB, but the confirmation bar on 7/11 looked too much like a doji for me and it looked like a retest of the 7/4 low...



A short now is into the BRN 1.3.

PASR - The Path, Progress Report

Hey all,

sorry for not being that active lately. As you may know I joined at around October 2018 to read about strat's PASR strategy. So this is my 9 month progress report.

I am doing a lot of training via forex testing software to build confidence in the market. I can really recommend you to do that, too.

I focus on the H4 timeframe (my Worker), with the Daily as my Boss an the Weekly as my Big Boss.

The hardest thing in trading is really the psychology behind it. I had a lot of ups and downs the last months. I knew that I can trade PASR. I really knew it, but I haven't proven it to myself. My Demo and my small capital live account were showing the opposite, the balance was just drowning. Then some revenge trades, some up to 4% of capital and all went downhilll.

Then I was figthing with my trading tools. On MT4 I have a pair switcher that can go through all pairs in the same window. But when you draw objects in that window they will get shown on another pair as well. I solved this now by using TradingView as my trade analysis tool and MT4 as just enter/exit trades.

Additionally I was switching a lot between timeframes - to finally find the timeframe that suits me. But I guess that is just normal. You need to play around a little bit and get comfortable with what you are doing. And that again, just takes time. So my tip is to enjoy the path and don't rush things. As it was said many times: the markets will still be there when you are ready.

It was just about 2 months ago, where I really started to make progress. I was focusing on just H4 as my Worker.

Partially I was reading too much in the threads. I made myself plans to read at least 30 pages per week. But in the end, I was having very few sparetime and that was sometimes too much and I got exhausted. Why? I just wanted to get good at the method and learn as much as possible. So I still haven't read every single post, but I still read in both threads.

With the help of the backtesting software you can build soo much confidence in your trading abilites that it just doesn't matter anymore if the current trade was a winner or a looser. Because you know that probabilites and thereby your edge are on your side. Just stick to what you will learn here and get into every trade that is according to strat's strategy.

I bought a software to do that as the capabilities in Metatrader is a little too limited. But I have also found a way to do multi timeframe analysis on MT4 while backtesting - but that again isn't that usable as I don't like how you can proceed through the candles in MT4. It actually downloads the charts for your selected timeframes and you can then proceed candle by candle without seeing the future candles. That won't be possible while doing the F12 excercise.

I set myself a plan to not go into the market again with a live account until I prove myself that I can be profitable. And there I am. Sharing my current progress while backtesting PASR.

So just to show some statistics about my current performance on my backtesting. I am still doing a lot of mistakes and there is plenty of room for improvement, but I will fine tune them in the next 3 months.

That is just the GBPAUD Performance over a period of over 6 years. The winner percentage is 44%. But you can see the winners are way bigger than the loosers (28 vs 15 USD). 0.25% risk on each trade. BTW: I already asked a while ago ("How about the fellow students winrates?"- what are your statistics out there?



As I found it hard to move the SL on a manual basis I started to add a volatility (ATR) based SL (sometimes referred to as Chandelier SL). This takes the emotions away and I have a purely mechanical way to handle the SL - sure, sometimes I get stopped out too quickly. But it currently helps me to build my confidence. Maybe in the future I will cut it off again and purely use PASR to get out of trades. TP is set to 2R. This again can be improved when using PASR.

So this is how my workspace looks like. You see back then I had quite some better performance on my GBPAUD session (the screenshot was taken a bit earlier). On D1 (my Boss) and W1 (my Big Boss) I am only using a 10 EMA. This is not according to strat's strategy but I currently focus more on PASR without the Shadow, Basic PASR if you will but with addtional helpers. But I find myself adding more and more what is taught in the thread.



Those mistakes are:

1. taking trades far away from the Strat Shadow/EMA's instead of trading the pullbacks (they are basically more breakout trades from SR)
2. trading into S/R

What I do right:

1. Position sizing. I only risk 0.25% of my capital for each trade. I will increase when I progress further. But I do need more data of my trading performance.
2. no revenge trades, just take trades that are according to the strategy
3. not being upset by a loosing trade - but that only comes when having the confidence that the strategy works
4. just pull the trigger when a set up occurs
5. don't over analyze things, even A+ set ups will fail

My 3 month plan:

1. focus on backtesting further and build more confidence
2. addtionally demo trade the real market on H4
3. further fine tune my strategy on H4

In October I am planning to enter an evaluation program for a prop trading firm. Basically you pay them the maximum allowed drawdown during the evaluation phase, which currently is at 4% of a 10k live account. Target is to reach 6% in max 6 months and 40 trades minimum. This gives me the needed pressure to perform on a professional level and staying accountable.

All in all, it is important to read what stands here in the threads. To learn each tool of strat's toolbox (drawing SR lines, Strat Shadow, Power of Timeframes, Candlestick patterns (BUOB/BUEB, BEOB/BEEB)) but at the end it comes down to applying excatly that and getting a feeling for the market. Doing that in a live market takes a lot of time. Doing that in backtesting software is way faster. I am able to do an 8 year backtest on H4 in just 4 hours. That won't be possible while being in the market. There is a downside though: I wouldn't be able to get into each trade that I am able to take while backtesting. Sometimes I might sleep while a set up occurs. But that doesn't matter. It is all about the confidence you build. Build yours.
