I've had the same issue as woodyc, but I assumed that changing the magic number on each pair would stop this.. Haven't seen it in action because no trades of mine are close to closing at the moment :\

I've seen the issue pop up again this time with Richards blessing(B3rf2.1.5beta). This time TP was reached for one trade and Blessing closed all trades. Profit maximizer was not even on in this case. See screenshot:


I just observed this happens on fxtrue's version also. Once TP is reached all trades are closed even if its a different currency pair.

You need to set each EAs Magic Number to a unique number. Blessing respects Magic Numbers. Blessing calls it: EANumber.

Blessing is supposed to have code to automatically select a unique Magic Number if you set EANumber to 1. I've never tested it.

I always use the date I start an EA as the Magic Number. Helps with record keeping.

First time I have heard of anyone not letting it generate its own magic number, the previous 2 comments would be nasty if trading with real money. Set it to 1 and it is idiot proof.

Thanks Tringy and Richard Setting the EA number to a unique number for each instance of Blessing fixed the issue.

Blessing's Magic Number generator is a handy feature. Leave EANumber set to 1 (less than 100 actually) and your EAs will almost never mess with each other's trades or trades of other EAs you have running.

I never liked the 'almost' part of that. And I also don't like Blessing creating a new Magic Number every time you restart the EA. How can you keep track of performance if your main tracking number keeps changing?

The Magic Number generator uses a hash to create new numbers, similar to a random number. Blessing never checks to see if another EA is already using that number. There's no easy way to do that. That's the 'almost' part.

Since the magic number is the main tool for tracking the EAs performance I like to set mine to the date the EA was first commissioned. That helps me connect it with my notes on all the EAs I've tested and traded. EAs mark every order with the Magic Number for tracking.

The MT4 Magic Number is a 32-bit integer from 0 to 2147483647 (MAXINT.) So don't make your numbers larger than MAXINT or MT4 will change them to MAXINT. If you use the date like I do, 20190628 is just a couple digits shy of the max. I add a digit to the end when I commission more than one EA in the same day, but that's getting close to the limit.

Magic Number is an old programmers term referring to something of unknown origin, as in 'made up'. "It's magic!"

If you use Blessing's hedging feature you're stuck with hashed Magic Numbers for those trades. They use different numbers to separate them from normal trades. As I explore hedging more I plan to make that option user selectable.

The magic number is always the same on the same currency pair at the same time frame.

You can use the comment string to record whatever you want, if backtesting it sets the magic number to 0.

Yep, that's just dumb. I test lots of EAs on lots of currencies and time frames. I have MT4 instances with dozens of EAs and set files running together. The Magic Numbers are all that keeps them separated.

So among all the other problems I can't test different set files on the same currency and time frames together.

No thanks. Dumb. Helpful idea, bad implementation.

Fortunately, Blessing lets you choose your own Magic Numbers. Just make sure they're greater than 99 and less than 2147483647.

Oh, and some brokers stomp on log comments, if that's what you were referring to. So Magic Numbers is all we've got.

Not necessarily.
Trading with real money is a responsibility. Much like taking care of kids and doing your household chores.
Trade responsibly, track each chart with its own unique Magic Number, but keep note of them so you'll be able to generate better statistical reports of each of your chart's behavior. Knowing the Magic Number instead of trying to figure it out from automatic placement, is a better responsible way.

If you turn on Debug Blessing prints the magic number on the screen. For the same pair and time frame it will always use the same magic number, at least it has in the last 9 years that I have been using it.

We do not contradict you, only add to your point, which you strengthen. Anyway, whatever is best for you is great.

Using automated tools for statistical examination of trades you cannot differentiate between different parameters (or different set files as richard96816 said) over the same charts and timeframes if you do not set the magic number yourself.

I have started a live account with a $1000 balance trading multiple pairs.. I'm using fairly conservative settings on AUD/USD and EUR/USD with tight money management and draw downs of roughly 4% in forward demo testing. I averaged about 10% return per week on my demo account so I will update you all with my results weekly.

I know we don't have many people using this on live accounts who are posting results.. But I think we should all start sharing our results so that the wider audience can see what a beast Blessing 3 actually is!

I'm new to robots so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I work full time rotating 12 hr shifts so I would like to get this working. I do get to check my account every 1-2 hrs. Here's my question, I have b3rf2.1.5beta.ex4 installed with the 201901051-eurusd-m1-f1 setfile on a eurusd 1 minute chart. I'm using forex.com MT4 and this fileset if I remember was tested on forex.com data. It opened a trade but opened with a lot size of 0.16. This is a live account with a starting balance of 672.00. I immediately closed the trade with a slight profit, removed the EA, reloaded with the same setfile and after 10-15 minutes opened another trade with a 0.16 lot size. The lot size in the setfile and EA properties both show 0.01 and nano account setting is true. That's 45% of my total balance on one lot. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this. It's late and I have to be up at 4:30am for work. Thanks for your patience and help. I hope to be a contributing member/tester in the near future. Autotrade is off until I can do more demo or find the issue.

I didn't check the setfile but you should ever test a setfile on demo account to be sure sizing is good. It could avoid this kind of situation.
