It seems we need a rule such that if the midline shiftswhile a trade is still open then the Exit becomes the opposite band -- something like that.


If midline shifts while in sell trade
- & price is now below the midline
- exit if price reverse back to midline or
- exit if price touches the lower band

vise versa for buy

Ignored Signals

I circled potential trade opportunities that were ignored because the candle didn't close above the boundary before retracing. They are good signals as well.

I think whether we base on the actual ADR index to add an R4M_BD_ADR indicator to limit the omission of the entry point? I assume the current ADR: 80; I put R4M_BD_ADR default 100 and put R4M_BD_ADR 2nd: 90th Chart results on the figure.

The signal is generated and the width is quite large when it flows

Thanks but No. 100% ADR is the minimum.

If price pokes above the 100% ADR mark, then I am interested in the reversal. Otherwise, I pass.

You are a programmer with potential; however you do not have a lot of trading experience.
If I were you, I would make up with George; apologize and take his offer to work on some indis together.
If you would be able to do that; I am sure you could even become the new "forum star" because possibly these decisions could lead to the completion of some new, valuable tools for the community. Think about that! Do not let any fights / ego things come in the way!


Recommendation 2:
Here are my own comments on your current work (understand that I do have a lot of experience with all kinds of tools in a trading context).
Out of all indis; the "liquidity gap" indi is the most interesting. However, in its current form; it is almost unusable since it slows down any backtests and cannot be tested / used in an EA. You need to find a better way to program it in MQL, so it does not have the arreas issue and is more CPU-friendly.
I suggest to fix that and to make it better that way. I can then offer you to look at it and show whether; over a large sample; it is rather robust or not.
At this stage; your work needs some tweaking. But the possibilty is there. Will you be able to UNITE people here and to CREATE something great? Or will useless bickering and fighting close the door to that possibility? Think about that.
A BOUNDLESS mindset is needed outside of trade analysis, too.

@Pip-Miner -- thanks for bringing @FF's post to my attention. I have browsed his posts from time-to-time and found them interesting and informative. And I like his style -- he's different than the other 3. But I also judge a person by the friends they keep.

As for his suggestion -- my response isn't fit to print here. It would get my membership revoked from FF.

@bishopdotun -- I understand, but let me suggest this...

The current strategy works very well -- in fact, considering how many people are experimenting with it (under different conditions) and reporting positive results is really quite amazing.

So -- to everyone -- please maintain a list of your good ideas. Let's complete this initial version, get the bugs worked out, create an EA and simple dashboard. By the way -- I wouldn't consider missed trade opportunities a bug. If we were to relax the strategy to include missed trades then it would probably result in more false positives -- it's always a trade-off. After version #1 is complete we can then add additional rules or policies that affect the "stringency" and people could adjust that to their trading preference, knowing that more trade opportunities could also lead to more false positives.

After we have a solid baseline to work with then we can revisit the strategy and add some additional optional rules and settings.

In the real world this is what happens with many software projects -- it's called "feature creep". All the engineers and developers keep having new ideas and, in the end, the application is never completed and gets shelved.

Updated version of the @bishopdotun indicator -- R4M-BD-ADR.ex4

I've just now uploaded a new version of the R4M-BD-ADR.ex4 to the other thread -- "Custom Indicators for TMA-ADR Reversal Trading and BBMA" (https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=920925). All indicators are bundled in a *.zip file.

The main improvement for this version is performance. Turns out there was a bug (I am embarrassed to admit) -- but this was the first one ever, trust me. The bug did not affect computations -- rather, it was repeatedly calling a recursive function unnecessarily.

@pipcruiser had reported a problem attaching the indicator to more than 7 or 8 charts. I think that is now do-able. I don't know what the new maximum is, but it should now be more than 8.

Also, I'm not sure whether this has an affect, but below are the 'Max bars in history' and 'Max bars in chart' settings I am currently using. The strategy doesn't need that many bars for trading purposes. The extra bars just mean you can scroll to the left and see all the trades you wished you had taken if only @bishopdotan had invented this strategy a month earlier.

Please let me know whether or not you also notice an improvement in performance. I am currently turning my attention to creating an EA version of the BD indicator.
