Aha missed that thanks but then wondering what happened with the P/L; will take a closer look at the timings and no of trades as a matter of interest.

Update: if I'm not mistaken: 16 trades vs 11 trades my TS started 5 min after Tokyo open; if like for like my setup should have reached almost 1000 pips.

Just as a matter of interest are you running all of your setups on Oanda?

Haven,t posted in a while. Busy. Start last night Entry Cycle 1 Exit Opposite. sma200 and direction of last 2 and present weekly candles on One hour. Will let ride to weekend. Lost the graph on the dash board, Reset The graph. drawdown was around $20.00

No mine was started on Monday, I decided been the first day of the week and not a lot of DD I let continue through Tuesday, so they are not the same so cannot compare. BTW that trade was on a PepperStone terminal, I have a mix of PepperStone, OANDA and now trialing one GlobalPrime terminal (which seems comparable to PepperStone).

Here are the final trades for today, resetting now for tomorrow:

H1 CycleV4: Cycle(3,1)+200ema Direction+Addons(9,0.7) - slight variation on the theme (3,1) but still good result, closed manually at EOD.

Just to demonstrate that CPU load is relatively small and should not cause any DB lags, in this screenshot of my Windows7 MT4 box (i7-4790) even when I have 8 terminals running with only the one terminal window maximized, the rest are minimized and the CPU load rarely gets above 20%.

I use https://fxvps.biz/forex-vps-plans/ I use the Power plan and it is by far the quickest vps I have ever had. Virtually no lag accessing it from Australia and it runs very nicely. It is relatively cheap compared to a lot of others and the cost is tax deductible anyway.

Minimising the charts for each terminal makes a big difference.
The other thing that makes a big difference is the data history / chart history settings. If you are using an EA that does not require eons of data you can set both of those to 5000 or 10000. Also remove any pairs from the Marketwatch window that you don't actually use. There is no point in the CPU / RAM trying to keep 65000 bars of history in all of your charts when if you are using HR1 charts, a setting of 5000 is equivalent to around 200 days of data which should be ample.
You will need to restart the terminal after making your changes.

Another basket closed in profit yesterday - really liking this setup even though I have to manually input the direction each day based on the HAS 0,200,0,1.

Not all days are going to go smoothly that's part of trading : some pretty heavy DDs today on the CycleV4 setups, even when the number of charts is just 7, we can still get some huge DDs.

H1 CycleV4: AUD pairs, cycle(2,1)+addons(9,0.7) - hit 1300pips down before a big recovery

My non-cycleV4 setups are proving to be move conservative with DD's and still achieving reasonable profits, don't just think about cycle_TS look back at some of the old TS's, there maybe a better answer....

H1 Basket_Trader_V9 : HASex(1,200)+SWGex(3,1,48) - smallish profit low DD, but profit comparable to one Cycle_TS with 1000pip DD

Of course we are going to have those days but I believe we are continuing to keep a 60/40 win ratio with certain setups. The challenge I'm still trying to address is how far to go with those losses so that on potentially 2 days out of 5 they are minimised. Given the invaluable lessons learnt here so far, my focus with S9 will be open & close same day one'n done.

Here are my two usual suspects which for a loss making day (in my books) are not bad specially as the Cycle Trader H1 setup could have been profitable had I not forgotten to adjust the EL to 120/80 as originally intended. I would still like to cut off the Cycle Trader H4 setup at one of the recurring/rapid break even points if there is not much build up of greens within an hour or so after New York open. Perhaps looking at this too simplistically but if only I could flick a switch and auto close the session as soon as P/L has hit 0 balance without manipulation of DB properties in mid trading would be great.

I'm not to sure about closing always at end of day irrespective of position. Personally I would play it by ear, close it in any profit, or if the cycle has changed back already. If still in DD or not many trades open and the cycle has not changed yet then I would let continue for another day, particularly on H1 charts where the average cycle appears to be about 48hrs.

Also some setups don't matter if I continue or not, like my GBP/JPY/AUD pair groups are setup to poach multiple TP's during each day if possible, so holding over will not make much difference.

PS: One thing I do like to do after a setup completes is reload all the charts with a fresh TS each day, that way I always start clean and not have anything left over from previous days trading.

Of course and agree the H1 in particular has a shorter cycle (also higher DD potential) and can recover more quickly perhaps.

I guess trying to build some structure around this so that it reflects real live account trading with limited funds and trying to avoid those 1000+ pips DDs which could cause margin calls on more restricted leverage/margin European accounts. Of course all dependent on position size and a fine balance. Cheers

PS I'm now also running a Demo account with OANDA although under European (FCA) jurisdiction which should be a good indicator; thanks for your help

Maybe we should be looking at more conservative Addon tram lines...maybe 1.5 multiplier for H1 and 1.0 for H4, I will start some testing using these next week to see if the DD are tamed better that way. The issue I see with Cycle_V4 is that is relies heavily on the Addon Marty's for recovery, so we can always expect some large DD days. Whereas the older HASv1, Basket_Trader_V9 and others don't rely on Marty recovery. I would rather go Live on HASv1 myself, which is a more conservative trading BOT.

Anyway just my thoughts...

It's finally happened - I did not get a profitable basket close yesterday
It did manage $71 profit in closed trades so was within $4 of a basket close.
I will leave this open in an attempt to find that last $4 and if not, I will have to start closing down those trades that are now on the wrong side of the 200 HAS.

That's a good idea but also prompted me to finally compile and share top line results of my Cycle Trader H4 1/2/3/0 + RSI 1440/4/1 setups which have been running for almost 6 weeks. Total of 95 daily sessions (baskets one'n done) were completed across 5 different brokers starting on Tokyo, London and New York achieving the following drawdowns:

MAX DD (PIPS) ----- BASKETS
0-250 -------------------78
250-450 -----------------6
450-2000 ---------------12
TOTAL -------------------95

There is a lot more analysis that could be done but with my focus on DD and trial & error EL settings (probably mostly inefficient at start) coming to personal conclusion the setup needs 18-20 hours to perform (if based on daily open/close Asian start) with a max Basket SL of 250-300 pips and 100-125 pips wide EL to get an averaged out 100-150 pips per day taking into consideration 3 out of 5 days success rate in locking equity. I have also seen the setup delivering @ 500 pips or more at least one day a week to make up for the conservative Basket SL.

Perhaps I'm trying too hard to apply a structure here to a setup which if left alone for the week or even more could probably just go and grab those pips providing its given lots of DD space but I don't have the luxury of limitless funds on live trading, hence my rant here.

Any way hope this is helpful for us going forward.

That actually lines up with what I have been observing, but non-analytical manner. That is if you have lot size 0.1 and EL of 250/125, then you need a SL set to 750 to cover the majority of DD cases with the CycleV4 TS. So in you case that equates to EL 125/65 and SL 375, with the expectation that we get a few EL runs. The last few days have generated some quite large DD, which would probably have whipped out any small account without a SL, this happened the last time I used a Marty style system on my live account. So I'm going to think very carefully about what my setup EL and SL conditions are before I would venture with the CycleV4 into Live accounts. I was hoping for a less violent DD version of cycle_TS before looking at taking it live. Personally for going Live I'm looking more towards the more conservative HASv1_TS.
