OK you have a fair point to my use of the word promote if that was the intention of the post, but my irony comment still holds true, because the thread is about the craft of manual trading which takes hours of chart time. So it is strange to use the results of a 1 week old EA, why not show results from manually trading the strategy would that not be more in keeping with the threads principles.

I'm only just getting back to manual trading, spent a long time working on the EA, staring at charts and code, to the detriment of manual work.
Someone else might be able to post.
With the thread now following another method it will be good to compare.

@mixedbag -- please don't simply link to another thread and expect people to read through thousands of posts to get what you are talking about. I am curious about related methods, but I'm not going to spend hours sifting through posts in an attempt to figure out what you are talking about. Make it easy for people. robots4me, In ref to post #2135 by moodybot, it can be just that simple. There is NO DOUBT you are a smart guy, but maybe not that good of a traders, YET. Forget what George & his followers are doing & find you own way. The indicators you coded are not needed. I am always impressed by those that have your skills at coding, but finding your way without them is even more impressive. Not sharing my thought to be disrespectful to you at all, but I have been in this business since 1998 & have learned a thing or two. Most the hard way. Moodybot is shining the light on what George is doing. Carry on with your thread & forget what George is doing. He has his thread & you have yours. I truly admire your efforts. Find you own method & trade it. If your indicators will help you, then use them. What works in trading for one may not work for other. The Turtle traders & Richard Dennis alway comes to mind. These are just my views & nothing more. Not at all trying to be disrespectful. Best wishes.

Hello everyone!

I am only new here as you can see, but I have been viewing Forex Factory for years and have only now been compelled to join. This was due to George's posts, somehow they struck a chord with me and not to mention all his time and effort, as that cannot go unnoticed. Although I am late to the party I have been reading both this thread and George's for only a couple of days now and I can see the possibilities, but unfortunately my forex road has been a troubled one, as I am sure most of you guys have had on here.

This journey if you could call it that has lost me thousands of pounds and filled my head full of junk. Now I find it hard to know which way is up, due to all the junk and lack of confidence from all my failures. I understand peoples frustration as I have felt that too, but I am beginning to wonder even if someone placed a winning system in front of me could I ever decipher it?!

I have to somehow retrain my brain to be able to see again and at that this moment I have no idea where to start. Excuse me for talking out loud and maybe deferring from the topic of your thread, but I do not blame anyone but myself. Will I ever figure out George's method? Who knows! All I can say even with my damaged thought process I shall try and I do not give up. I did once before, but forex kept pulling me back and I was more depressed when I quit.

I try to stay positive and would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who takes the time to post and keep going, someday hopefully we will all get where we want to be.

  4. Have difficulty regulating emotions and behavior

@parisboy -- you've described me perfectly. This is almost exactly what my wife tells me everyday...

Look it -- we are all guilty to some extent, right? I mean, you are not a clinical psychologist, yet with a post like that you presume to be able to psychoanalyze someone. So, I can also see some of you in the disorder you describe.

We've had a couple of days to get it out of our system. Can we return to forex trading strategies?

I've received many supportive PMs and with ideas of new things to explore -- all very interesting -- thank you. I would like to keep the thread alive and use it mostly for experimenting and improving upon an existing trading strategy that is usable now. That way people can see for themselves whether or not they like it and then suggest improvements that I could incorporate in the form of a new indicator or modification of an existing one.

@Robots4me when I read this description, spontaneously you were not the first name coming in my mind in spite of "your exaggerated sense of self importance" as noticed by your wife !

I confess I am guilty too to some extent. I am guilty also to have some definite opinions and to express them.

Anyway you are right, let us return to examine and test lazy trading strategies and useless indicators

Let us explore together the wrong paths which lead to the black side of the market !

Yes -- "disrespectful" is exaggerating a bit. I think I use exaggeration because I can often get a point across in fewer words. But then there is also the risk that people take it too literally, whatever...

I know @parisboy's plagiarized post from above was intended for the family patriarch, but as I read each line I was marking my own check boxes. Isn't it interesting the things we dislike the most in others we are guilty of ourselves.

Which reminds me -- I used to dislike my dad's sense of humor. But now it's really scary because I see I've turned into my dad. And these days I'll occasionally remind my son he gets to look forward to turning into the same type of person he sometimes gets impatient with. And it annoys him when I say it -- which is probably why I enjoy saying it.
