Is there any chance of this thread focusing again on FX? Some of the recent comments may be relevant to some of the members, but I think enough has been said, and it would be great if we could get back to the fx business ... :-)

Just talking from experience of actually using and analyzing trader sentiment data.
Can it be read with mql4? depends on how the web page is coded. If it uses java script to put values in white-space then you will need to code web scraping script in other language , else if it doesn't use JS but html only then you can get by with mql4.

There are already several Sentiment indicators available for MT4. Just do a search.

Hello coders, I posted a request for help to create an indicator but never heard anything back, not sure if it was overlooked or achievable, so will try again with the request.

Volume based indicator
A horizontal line that will appear on the main chart at the close of the price bar to co-inside with the close of the volume bar,
be able to choose the level of volume for bar to be be plotted
Be able to show how many previous lines plotted.

You will see the reason behind variable volume level, there would be many many lines, a line at every level of volume bar,
also being able to plot x amount of lines has its benefits too.
Thank you for anyone willing to create the indicator, Detector.

I have found an indicator that plots pips above or below MA, thanks, D

Below is a screenshot of how the indicator would develop on the chart, the volume level could be set, (as per the screenshot) 2500, this would then highlight the appropriate bars close where volume has reached this level, on which a horizontal line is drawn, (colour coded if poss to represent the bar in question)
The first volume bar meeting the criteria is represented by a "down candle" on the chart, (line at close RED)
Second volume bar meeting criteria is represented by a "down candle" on the chart, (line at close RED)
Third volume bar meeting the criteria is represented as an "up candle" on the chart (line at close GREEN)
fourth volume bar meeting the criteria is represented as an "up candle" on the chart (line at close GREEN)

So taking into consideration the indicator function will plot "last 4 results/lines" if the volume criteria was achieved the appropriate colour line would be plotted and the first line that started the sequence would disappear (we only want to see the last 4 results/criteria)

It looks like volume profile and I forget what it called, may be I am wrong. Forgive me but I want to join with you.
I am also craggy about volume.
If you appreciate, I want to test it.

Hello Baminb, I'm trying to get all posted on the chart turned into an indicator, volume is the driving force behind price movement, wind in the sails, etc.. sure price will drift without wind but add a gust and the ship moves quicker.
Volume splits between buyers (long) and sellers short), then splits between short closing and long closing, profit from the initial position, all have a role to play and how this figures is in the gameplan, for a quick analysis of the above chart, volume driving the price down was the same as up, or not far short and judging by the chart buyers won, while this is after the event and easy to recognise, the indicator may well be a better interpretation of the war going on, thus what side to be on, hope this helps, maybe we could have a dedicated "volume indicator" thread, thanks for taking an interest, D

Sorry detector,I understand what you want to achieve with this indicator but this technique is not going to do what you intended. You can't use constant volume as filter for each candle.Unless you just want to highlight UK and US sessions.

I'm a little lost, could you elaborate on constant volume?, while the volume we have at hand is tick, that being buy/sell accumulation it represents coming together at a junction en-mass, they all seem to know, or at least, have an idea of a tuning point, hence, spikes in en-mass activity, how else could we conduct a similar objective and with what motivator, cheers, D

you are using constant value (2500) to filter the bars, bars with volume above 2500 will be highlighted. Large volume is just a potential for large move, each time of the day has its common activity levels. Usually the largest moves in the day are in UK and/or US session.
If you want to highlight unusually large volume for each hour then using constant value for each hour is not the best solution, that was my point.

Ahh I see, I thought you were just being anti, well way back in my infancy, I used Fchartspro (space jock software) there were functions to create indicators which included volume that could be set nothing short of volume greater than previous volume x 5%, in formula of course, so dynamic for a better word, that in mind, with what I'm asking on the forum, and not having much luck, imagine asking to use dynamic volume...
