Disliked{quote} Sort of a long post -- sorry. One of my buttons got pushed......Ignored
Right, first of all let me say that I'm glad and chuffed that you took the time to write such a long reply. It means indeed that you do take things seriously, and for that respect to you.
Now allow me to answer back. I didn't "suddenly decide its not possible and indicate I'm no longer interested". My exact words were "unless there is a way to make it lighter for that number of bars, I will have to keep drawing the lines manually". So, in all seriousness I am still fully open to carry on testing it if you find a way to relieve the amount of memory affected. Before I go ahead, bearing in mind my zero coding knowledge and just going by logic, I will hazard a suggestion (still beating a dead horse LOL): would maybe eliminating altogether the option to show the past lifetime bars alleviate the above mentioned load? Of course let me reiterate I understand this would lead to a different path than the one you chose when you generously decided to share and opened the thread (that's why my previous use of the' hijacking' word).
As for the 5000 bars value, following the procedure I described earlier and starting with 5000 daily bars takes us back to 19 years ago, while going down to m15 bars would take us back to only about 10 weeks, which is not a lot. If I halve the bars number on your indi (and probably still it would not be enough), we go back to only over 1 month ago: the significance and completeness of the lines decreases a lot, you have to admit. Also, how many pairs can be handled by that empirical number? The more pairs I watch the lower I will need that number, and the less the significance and efficiency of the lines displayed. "5000 bars" for George means no more than that, but also no less, for a reason.
That said, I'm still here to offer all the help (if you still want it) that you might deem useful to improve your indi. Only I will use it on my charts, either this one or an MTF one, if the conditions match the display of the lines I've been manually drawing so far (and I think this condition is satisfied so far) but also if it won't hinder my actions on the charts. Let's not forget that, although higher TFs are watched and taken into consideration, M1 is the chart where the trades are taken, and speed on that TF for me is essential. I can't allow my PC memory to be affected over crucial and fast moments.
EDIT: Only after posting the above a possible partial solution came to my mind: to use different bar number settings for different TFs. Still we would need to find empirical values, and also the number of pairs watched would still affect those values. Quite a lot of work...
