I am wondering but Marctomarket mentioned EUR demand from Asia. Hmmm... if that has not something to do with the ongoing 737MAX dilemma. Lion Air has suspended the remaining of their Boeing order of 201 planes and is looking out for alternatives. But alternatives are limited to A320neo and, if a few passengers less are acceptable, the A318 and A220-300.
If the current EUR strength is not building up a EUR base for the acquisition of Airbuses. Since there is a bit of a rush in to Airbuses (air China is also forgetting their 737MAX order) there is the matter that... the one who pays cash gets whatever is available.

Fast tracking airplanes with less regulation has its drawbacks. It's going to bite Boeing in the ass. It dont just affect the ones flying. It affects us, on the ground too. Lucky a school or a major population area wasn't hit. It could have been much worse at a large city airport.
You may be right. Eu gains during Asia session since . Maybe due to more EZ airplane demand moving to euros and less usd. At some point that should slow. I will speculate Airbus orders have gained, while Boeing has dropped.

try to be patient.. look like eur/usd is capped by 1312/14 for now, wait to see how US traders will do...1275 is next to print by bears,, 1326 for bulls...
ADR 45 so far , daily ADR has reached.... today is triple swap..

Currently no substantial orders have been placed this year so far. Usually the signing of this kind of "Trophy Contracts" are reserved for special events... where the next coming one will be the Paris Airshow 17th June, the Oshkosh air show end July and then the Dubai Airshow in November. But.... that's only the signing. Such heavy contracts have a few month of preparation ahead... so the timing could match with the market behavior. If some parties are serious and sure that in two month in Paris they wanted to nail a deal... they will start collecting the cash today while the rate might be better.

Anyhow.... you are fully right this dilemma is affecting everyone of us more or less.... and I am frustrated about that. The 4 airlines which I am flying frequently holding 30% of the world's 737MAX. The ticket price for the routes I have to travel routinely have jumped by up to 40%. I remember one flight to Zurich I had to book was 314$ but i didn't book since the timing was not confirmed. When I wanted to book end last month (a few days after everyone was grounding the birds) the same flight cost me 486$.
