Hey everyone,

I’m in the process of trying to become full time in this game. In my first week, I netted 20%, but gave most of the profits back over the course of the next 2 weeks, only to make it all back the week after that.

I do not wish to trade like this and I’m curious if anyone can provide insight on who/where they learned from to help them become a full time trader.

I trade on the H4 time frame and I trade trends/channels.

{quote} if in your 1st week you netted 20%....you are very likely to be many years away to become "full time in this game". but the upside: you are doing great as a gambler!

I risk 2.5% each trade to make 5%. I win 50% as of now. Not much as a gambler.

if you say so sir.
are you looking to take 20% swings weekly as a meaning for full time trading?
i would think not.
and if not, then it is a good starting point to think over what kind a swings would you feel comfortable trading full time, with a decent equity size.
there is always, always another trade!!

I’m not swing trading. I did 4 intra day trades my first week. I won my first 4 trades.

the swings: was a reference to the +20% then -20% to +20% swing in your equity....not to trading style.

I think the biggest issue is the capital you need to make an actual living out of trading. I connected to a prop trading firm and I was lucky to get hired. They provide capital and mentor, but for a cost obviously and it's not cheap.
But what you get in return is a mentor, being accountable and being VERY strict about risk.

Don't go full time trading yet. Go babypips school first and practice 2-3 systens/strategies on a demo account until you are a master of two of them.
