The name “Agari 3 Halon” translates as “3 furlong until finish”. The Japanese “Halon” is an English-borrowed word for “Furlong”, which is an old-fashioned distance unit still used in horseracing. The name “3 furlong until finish” refers to the last stage of a race when it becomes most heat up. The developer (CY) justified his choice of name as “creating an EA capable of always running and striving for victory”.
Agari 3 Halon has come to Japanese traders’ attention thanks to its recent increase in performance and promising results. The EA has made more than 300,000 yen (130% RoR) in revenue over the last 10 months since it started operation (January 2018). What also makes it attractive, is the fact that the EA can be afforded at quite reasonable price of 13,000 yen.

2. Characteristics
Because Agari 3 Halon is a scalping-type EA, it’s trades will mostly be short-term. Quoting the developer’s words, he states:
“Agari 3 Halon is a scalping type EA committed to managing candlestick-shaped trend problems. Until now, the EA has a proven 90%+ success on the official website’s Backtest. Apart from this the EA has other advantages, such as:
- Positioning
Agari 3 Halon only holds 1 order position at time, which greatly improve risk control. I’ve realized that high success rate in major part owes to proper risk control.
- Maximum stop-loss is 90 pips
With the aim to further improve the risk control, I’ve set a limit for stop-loss at 90 pips. Moreover, I’ve also set the EA not to carry over order positions to the following week, to prevent any conflicts between trades and stop-loss. Considering every possible scenario, I made every effort not to allow stop-loss exceeds 90 pips, even in the worst case.”

As seen in on this chart, over the period of January 2018 to October 2018, the EA has made more than 300,000 yen (capital increased from 1 million yen to 1.3 million). Judging from the trend performance (black line), the EA had continued to increase the profit steadily and without significant dips. The image below shows monthly breakdown of pips during the application period.
We can see that similarly here, the pips gained in the first 3 months of activity was abrupt (which also repeated in May). Although these pips spurts were only momentarily, the amount of pips gained in later months had maintained steady growth.
4. User Opinions
Excellent sense of stability (Mata Saburou)
Looking at the Backtest result, the monthly revenue felt somewhat unsatisfactory (about 2000 yen per 0.1 lot), but the Forward test result has far surpassed that of backtest. The reason why is because the success rate continues to grow despite more and more buy/sells, which should contrarily result in reduced accuracy and exposing the EAs true ability. Even so, with the SL being set at 90 pips, the success rate is still an astounding 95%. I’ve also seen many EA senior developers trying to justify their backtest results, but none of them could explain as concisely as does Mr. CY, which makes him the most credible in my eyes.
5. Summary
Agari 3 Halon was designed to hold 1 order position at time, with risk management in mind. Although the EA has no flashy features, it still has an impressive, almost perfect success rate of 97% (only 1 loss out of 39 performed trades). Agari 3 Halon is one of those EAs to consider in trader’s portofio. Not only it’s promising in terms of future performance, but it was also developed by the same author of Ippongachi (Currently one of Japan’s best EAs), which gives more the reason to try it out.
