Question for CL Trader......... Do you have a certain time of day for trading the indices you mention? I live in Eastern Australia......... Cheers.

..need to sort out a futures account and do this properly..i'm UK based and would ideally like to fund and trade an account using £ rather than $.
From what I can see the likes of Infinity or AMP are good US based options but wondering if there are comparable UK based or GBP funded alternatives?

EDIT: ..just chatted with AMP and can fund an account with GBP but it doesn't look like LIFFE (to trade FTSE) is in their exchange list..

Hi, i was using Axitrader UK until mid last year when ESMA imposed leverage limits and Axitrader UK was affected.Since i dont have a giant account to trade on very small leverage, i asked them to move my account to Axitrader Australia(parent company).So im with Axitrader Australia and they have GBP and the FTSE.Try them if you want or try their UK company.

This is an option, but they have a own platform .. Not sure you will like it, can try degiro it's a discount broker I am only not sure if you can connect another platform through there api.... But if you are UK based you can try activ trades.... If I am correct they have futures ...

I trade 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM (New York time) for the NQ, RTY (Russell 2000 e-mini), YM (Dow 30) [I don't trade the ES (S&P 500 e-mini, too much chop for me]. You can get some great moves on the NQ from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM New York time but I tend to get what I need in the 1st 2.5 hours and call it a day.

However, NQ does move well before 9:30 AM in the 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM area, especially when financial news is out before regular trading hours (9:30 AM starts). Just remember that the margin requirements can go up substantially outside of regular trading hours (9:30 - 16:15 EST).

Crude futures (CL contract) open up for regular trading hours at 9:00 AM New York time but it's not volatile enough for me right now. It has its moments way too much sideways compared to above.

The HSI / HHI open up on the Hong Kong Futures Exchange at 9:15 AM Hong Kong time. In New York time, that is at 8:15 PM the night before this time of year. When we move the clocks forward an hour in the Spring, then it will still be 9:15 AM Hong Kong time but then 9:15 PM New York time.

There are two sessions to the HSI / HHI, separated by a 1 hour close for their lunch time. 9:15 AM to 12:00 PM then 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Hong Kong time. The second session starts at 12:00 AM in New York time but the range of moves are more muted in their afternoon session.

To those of you considering trading the HSI / HHI, remember that the Hong Kong Dollar is pegged to the USD, so no matter how the currency markets gyrate, the exchange rate is always a constant 50 HKD = $6.37 USD. ("always" unless they change the exchange rate to rebalance which is very rare).

As far as a brokerage goes having decent fees, the one where you can trade just about anything in any market is Interactive Brokers. This is my broker. The only catch is that they want 10K USD to open up an account. Note, however, that they got out of the margined Forex trading biz in the US. (I don't know if this applies to Europe-based or Australia-based customers). I don't trade Forex so that wasn't an issue for me. I'm just mentioning them as a possible source for trading futures.

Edit: took a 3pt loss (close back in the cloud)...and now have a buy limit @7000.
