Where Are Our Trading Heroes?

Do you know any forex trading heroes?

Specifically, do you know anyone who got famous and trades forex on say MetaTrader? Is it even possible?

If there were a bunch of success stories out there wouldn't we know about a few of them? Where is our Jesse Livermore, our Warren Buffet? Does Soros count? Are we all just tilting at windmills, tricked with the illusion of possible success?

Guy had a $5,000 account and was trading box spreads. Was set to bank $50,000 on the deal that "literally can not go tits up." The deal was also described as "risk free money".

Long story short, it went tits up and he owes his broker $60,000.00

A true trading hero if you ask me...
In trading I don't think that famous and successful go hand in hand very often. I think those that are successful quietly apply their formula for success and make money. I am always skeptical when I hear someone advertise how successful they have been and now they're teaching others how to do it. There are always exceptions like Warren Buffet etc but they made there money from wise investments and no trading.
Excellent posts, I can tell that the search is still on. So thomas101 I understand there are probably some successful traders that are not famous, but is it possible for all the successful forex traders to not be famous? I have a sneaking suspicion that it is just not really possible to make enough money as a retail trader to become famous. I mean like if you are making money hand over fist somebody would notice, you would have to take active measures to keep your privacy. If perchance someone was super rich from forex we would at least hear about the donations that they were making.

Ok, yes, this qualifies in general, this guy is getting famous and probably is a hero to some, however, he ain't famous for winning nor forex.

I know several people that have made about 10% return per year pretty consistently and one person that has made 15 - 22% per year consistently. I work with the dude that makes about 15 - 22% per year and have seen his trading statements they are very real and soon he will be retiring since he now generates enough profits to keep himself going without needing to work. You have to be very very good to be making anything around 30% return. If it was possible to generate 30% or more consistantly any hedge fund would be super rich fast and those guys have money to hire the best of the best. With that return you are doubling your money every few years....aiming for 20% per year then retiring early when your pool of money is large enough is very attainable. Anymore and I think your a statistical anomaly. Just my personal opinion.

I know I could never reduplicate his/her results.
Stop focusing on others.. And focus on your own strengths.
The only system that will work is one designed by and for yourself.

If I am successful and rich, I surely won't be posting here or anywhere else, and use corporation onshore or offshore with its own BOD, BOC and Shareholders, complete with army of lawyers and accountant to minimize risk, tax or make business simpler, that way my name won't appear anywhere

Same strategy that I am following too. Chasing others strategy or trading plan is one kind of wasting of time.
Let me implore upon you dear readers, we do not look for heroes so that we may copy them directly, we look to see and know what is possible. We can still forge our own path, but just knowing that someone else has climbed this mountain before helps us realize that it is indeed possible.
