Just days before the Euro cap was removed SNB officials, no doubt directed by Jordan repeated their description of the cap as a "Policy cornerstone". The rest they say is history.

First the rate is -0.75%

Second it was a cap against the Euro and not a peg. This meant the Swiss Franc was being kept artificially low.

Third the negative rate is designed to keep the Swiss Franc from appreciating too much.

Fourth the Swiss Franc is very often used as a safe haven currency in the ubiquitous "Flight to safety"

SNB is sitting at -1.75% rates. How exactly do they have "room to manoeuvre". They are trapped at the lower bound in a stalling, debt-ridden economy.

nonsense...they scare it is going to get pounded soon...with all the banking debacle...they will be screaming to buy up the CHF

They have still room to force more people to store their money under the mattress instead at a bank.

It's incredible how these central bankers blatantly lie and will do anything to prop up their failing financial system.
