I think you are right there, as the DB is working on ADR not ATR. Also in the absence of relying on TS ATR SL (until the new release) have been trying to calibrate ATR->ADR ratios to prevent a repetition of Tuesday's all red performance. All the best

Hi Gene, in need of some advice again please.

Just trying to reduce/manage DD on HAS/Swing/Semafor trading. Attached is a current setup starting Asia open with DB SL set to 0.3 x ADR which successfully stopped out AUDNZD within 20 pips of going in the wrong direction but immediately kicked off a new trade (04:05:04) for a further 20 pips of losses.

I was assuming with the Dashboard timeframe set to H1 there would be no new trade opened for AUZNZD within the hour but clearly I am wrong. Could you please elaborate on this and most importantly on how we best avoid such unnecessary drawdowns from occurring, whether using DB SL/ADR or TS SL/ATR?

I am not sure that my issue is related to same code, but when I select "Use_Has_color_change to Exit" and "Opposite swing" to exit, with no TS ADR TP set, my trade terminated early with a TS TP signal with what looks like just the "Opposite Swing" signal instead of "color change" and "opposite signal.

I believe that comes from the repainting Swing signal when "Add_to_Swing_trade_on_new_swing_signal" is enabled. One solution to controlling DD is to disable all Add-to's.

Thanks for that I think will disable all add ons if that's the case and follow sanity rather than vanity in capturing those pips. But I'm still wondering why the ultimate trade handler ie Dashboard allowed the trade to kick off given it was set to H1? Shouldn't it have been the case that no new trade for that pair should have kicked off in the same hour or am I misunderstanding the function of the DB timeframe?

The add-to's don't count, they will happen no matter what the DB timeframe is set too. However, in this case I sure a Fractal add-to should not allowed in the same candle as the trade entry, this is a question for Eugene as to whether it can be resolved...

Hi Gene and fellow traders,

Here are a couple more comparable setups with the first running HAS/Swing and the second HAS/Swing/Semafor on today's Asia open with the only effective SL in place being DB $10 and SL/ADR 0.3 (as the TS ATR/SL is currently not behaving). My tests so far indicate that Semafor adds a very useful 3rd confirmation with lower number of trade entries/stop losses and higher equity gains. For me the key challenges to going live are:

1) minimising DD through the TS SL/ATR setting in each chart individually
2) not having new or duplicate bad trades automatically created when trade is going in the wrong direction (Post #3302)

UPDATE: Gene, just as a semi final analysis of the results, with its relatively good reliability (lets say 60%ore more) HAS/Swing/Semafor does not seem to need a large DD in making a successful trade and if it does then much more often than not its going in the wrong direction. So the way I see it any large DD allowance is a waste of $$$ and trades should be stopped out early on in this setup. Of course you are the expert in this and I the rookie simply trying to logically arrive at a fixed DD of 100 pips ($10 @ 0.01 lot) MAX per DB instance I may be running on live in the future. Sorry Gene another one for you. Having set all Alert_Pop_Pop options to false within the DB and TS settings I am still getting these boxes popping up from the add to trade function. Is there anyway they can be made to behave in accordance with the DB setting of true/false in the new release? Thanks

I'm disabling my TS ATR SL/TP settings until Eugene has fixed the code, in the meantime I'll do the same as yourself and utilize the DB ATR SL instead.

This can happen when you open a trade that close to the top of the hour due to time delays and such.

The DB is looking at ticks from the chart it is on while the trade signal is looking at the ticks from the chart the TS is on and they are not synced to each other and this can cause timing problems like this. The best thing to do is if the TS is on an H1 chart is put the DB on H4 or higher.

I generally only look for one trade per pair each day so I run the DB on the D1 time frame, then reset and go when a new day starts.

Your combination of exit signals is not the same as Swing and Semafor exit being used together as it takes both of them to agree. In your case which ever comes first will trigger the exit. The only 2 that must be in sync are the Swing and Semafor when used together, any other combination is first come first served.

Hi All, Follow up to yesterdays live trade, ended up hitting my DB stop loss of $125.00. Incidentally prior to it going bad, it it did get to positive equity of $51.28. I did have my original EL set to $50/20 but changes it to $80/45 so if I had left it then I would have at least got out with $20 instead of -$125 ...... you live and learn.

My thoughts on changing the EL was that sometimes it can limit your profit greatly so I guess this is the balance that we are all looking for. Maybe 50/10 or 50/5 would have been better so it gives it room to breath more, testing will tell.

Fingers crossed for Asian open today.

My setup continues to add to the balance but the equity is not going anywhere due to the increase in DD.
One must have faith in this type of setup that the price will revert to the mean and close out trades in profit eventually however some manual intervention may be needed soon.
I stopped trading the GBP pairs in my main live account some time ago and I may have to do the same thing with this setup one once they have settled.
The GBP is responsible for a major chunk of my DD

Gene, is it possible to include in the next version of the TS a field which shows how many trades are currently open and what the total lot size is for that pair?
Eg
Trades 6
Lots 0.16
or something similar?

Personally I feel having your SL at 125 and EL at 50/xx is too big a gap, it will take too many good days to clear a bad day. What I can tell you is in 8 Days of success the maximum DD was $71, with my EL set to 80/40 last week and 100/50 this week, that is why I set my BE SL to $80. It takes no more than 2 good days to clear one bad day then.

I was just sitting here thinking up dumb things to do and I had figured my HAS and BO was doomed as it was down something terrible from yesterday but was still running. All of a sudden it beeped and closed out in profit.
