For me a scalp is just a stage 1 entry where I am not expecting a major move but could pick up a few pips here and there. Sometimes the scalp can turn into a stage 2 or even 3 entry. For example the buy in the morning and sell in the afternoon situations.
A hedge is the sum of all the trades. It effectively matches dollar for dollar in the opposite direction from the primary trade and is an excellent way to pick up top dollars for no risk.
