Does anyone have the up down volume ratio indicator for MT4?

It is the up volume divided by the down volume of each bar, plotted as a line.

Since you only have tick volume it will be difficult to determine if the volume is up or down.
Even in MT5 where you have ticks not all instruments deliver ticks with deal information.

Hey brother, thanks a lot for replying,

It is possible using up ticks and down ticks, that is how the cumulative delta works, for instance. At least is what I can tell from what I read here.

For example look this indicator:

It plots the difference between up and down, but it is not a division. What I wanted is up ticks divided by down ticks in each bar.


Regarding the Volume MACD, you can see in the image that it has a 0 line which it oscillates around, perhaps you missed it?

Another indicator that can be derived from the cumulative delta is an Up/Down Volume oscillator.

If you tweak the code of the cumulative delta to make it NOT add the results to a running total, then we will have a line oscillating thru a zero line. A very good way to check short term tops and bottoms and divergences based on volume.

Also this mentioned indicator has only tick volume as base for calculations. I guess it will assume buy/sell ratio from the kind of candle.
Nobody will get the exact buy sell volume from MT4 data + you get
only the data from your broker feed. So be careful when comparing data from book (they mostly use data from stocks or futures) with forex data of your broker.

After quick check this indicator must run all the time to collect and save every incoming tick. Of course you can do this, but that’s no real solution for me.

Thanks brother, I already have this one, but as I said, this is not the ratio. For the ratio you have to divide the up volume for the down volume, the cumulative delta is just subtracting.

For me it is good enough for trading, the correlation of forex tick volume compared to the futures volume is more than 90% similar.

It’s your decision. Data that’s not replicable is nothing on which I would relaying on.

The traders of the past all relied on tick volume and made fortunes... And they didn't have a tiny fraction of what we got today in terms of tools.

I would not agree but will not capture the thread with discussion about real volume on stocks and tick volume of a decentralized market.

One day I had your mindset too, i started trading futures before forex, I still do, I trade them both with the same methods and I don't find that I have more of an edge in futures than I have in forex. same thing..
