The GAP Down total for me is 500.20 pips for all GAP Down pairs, a little less for this test as I left out 3 that were less than 10 pips. I'm just getting into Gap trading or at least trying to understand it; my demo accounts last week did well but hesitant to enter on live as yet. I see the spreads on GBP specially are still quite large and assume this is one of the reasons for some not getting involved here. My potential 8 pairs Gap basket has @ 50 pips to catch up on before making a profit but I could also see a potential 100+ pip opportunity on the conservative side. I am looking forward to understanding more about Gap trading and what the probability of seeing surprise trend reversals may be vs regular profits. Cheers

My GAP test just triggered with a max GAP setting of 4 pips when the second hour candle opened, all trades opened accept for the GBPNZD, which is normal for that pair as the spread is always higher than the rest. I put a TSL on the basket and also a TP at Fridays close, this is just for fun, will see what will happen. LOL

Its possible that GBPNZD may still join the basket as the PA has pulled back just below my BO Line and if it breaks the line again and the GBPNZD spread is 4 or less it will open a trade on GBPNZD.

If my TP is hit it would be between 200 and 250 pips.

In the past I have traded them as individual pairs and set my TP at 1/2 the GAP.

Whoops I was mistaken, the Pivots in Basket TS are actually Weekly pivot lines already. However, the Pivot_Voty lines are slightly different to the Basket_Trader_Ts lines, what would cause that?

Hi All

I'm still struggling to understand what Pivot settings I should be using or what effects Pivots positions in the S9 toolkit; so far I have the parameter timeZoneOfData on S9_Basket_Trade_TS; not sure if there are other relevant settings. So as an exercise I have referenced https://www.actionforex.com/markets/pivot-points/eurusd for the EURUSD weekly Pivot and changed the value for timeZoneOfData to 3 in order to get the same Pivot point of 1.3781 for the weekly pivot point as defined by this site. Please see attached.

Could anyone tell me if this is the correct approach for setting my Pivot correctly and in line with the GMT timezone?

Thanks for the feedback Gene, having observed this over the past few weeks I feel its time to put Gap trading into live next week. The gaps certainly seem to close in after the initial hour but still posing @ 100+ pips opportunity. Also as you mention 1/2 way point seems a good place for TP. Setting aside greed I would be very happy to take a conservative 100 pips regularly from this kind of trading right at the beginning of the week! Lets hope and see ..

You have to adjust them with the pivot setting in the TS settings.

Some traders like them to be in a different location according to their Broker and day start.

That looks good.

Get it as close as you can with the setting in the TS, a few pips either way is OK.

In the next version I will make it auto, so if anybody wants it auto and manual setting please let me know or I will just go with auto to prevent any confusion.

Personally think would be great to automate this to prevent inaccuracies; assuming it will subsequently be adjusting itself to LT time on MT4 and we'll not have to worry about timezone. Cheers

This is how I was able to adjust the TS pivots to Davit's system, you need to do the following:

Davit's pivots were based on New York or Eastern Standard time. What you need to do is look at your local computer time and adjust it to Easter Standard time first. For example, I'm on Mountain standard time so if my local time is 9:00 am, that would convert to 11:00 am Eastern standard time. Now you need to calculate the difference between your Eastern Standard time, in my case 11:00 am and your broker time. My broker time happens to be 7 hours ahead so when it's 11:00 am EST my broker's time is 6:00 pm. In order to align the broker time back to EST, you need to subtract 7 hours. So in the TS, you would set the timezoneofdata property to -7.

Quoting Davit's setup instructions, "10 pips or less Pivot difference is acceptable and normal. It's a zone after all."

Thanks a lot blewab this is very helpful. On this basis (although haven't gone through physically changing timezone as yet) I think my TS setting should be -2 as my timezone is GMT or EST+5 (and BT+2)! Any how will double check and thanks again.

Well, what can I say you guys are way too sophisticated for me at the moment , I've just setup some basic baskets on GBP and Euro on a 1 hour and 15 min time frame.

A couple of the 15 mini came out with positive results as did the 1 hour. Pasted below to prove I've done something LOL

Hey Fairtraderuk,
If your timezone is GMT then your time as of this posting is around 7:00pm. Converting your time to EST is -5 or 2:00pm EST. Your broker time is +2 so the time on your charts should be 9:00pm.

If EST is 2:00pm and broker is 9:00pm, then your TS setting would be -7.

Hopefully this makes sense.

UPDATE: Sorry to elaborate on this one but given its potential importance would be grateful if we could clarify whether this setting is actually right given the following:

Timezone = GMT (BT - 2 / EST -5)
TS setting = -7
Pivot point (EURUSD @ -7) = 1.1393
Pivot point (EURUSD Weekly) https://www.actionforex.com/markets/...points/eurusd/ = 1.1378

Clearly the two don't match and I may be doing something wrong here however would be great to receive some confirmation; or perhaps this is acceptable?

The website you provided shows the Weekly PP calculated based on GMT. If you want your PP to align with Davit's system, they need to be calculated based on EST or GMT -5.

If Seller9 is able to automate this, it will make it easier for everyone.

It is already in line and uses the original Davit equations, if you try to auto mate it as I thought might be possible it does not work on offline charts as it does now.

The Pivot_Voty-2 ALERT-FIX that was posted by someone earlier does not work on offline charts.

The explanation given as to how to set the setting was posted a few posts back and is very good and seems easy enough, after all, we need a few things for the trader to do. LOL

If someone wants to take the time to fix the above mentioned indy so it works on offline charts I would be more than happy to incorporate it into version 5, I don't have the time right now with so many things going on with the Holidays approaching to start digging into that code.
