Hi
Hendrick, thanks for sharing your system.
I downloaded <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1lace>Phoenix</st1lace></st1:City> and put it on a M15 USDJPY chart.
Then, I decided to place on the chart the indicators that <st1:City><st1lace>Phoenix</st1lace></st1:City> uses as signals, so that I can actually see what <st1:City><st1lace>Phoenix</st1lace></st1:City> is thinking.
So, I put the Envelopes indicator (<st1:City><st1lace>Phoenix</st1lace></st1:City>’s first signal) on the chart setting the parameters as per the <st1:City><st1lace>Phoenix</st1lace></st1:City> parameters for USDJPY.
Period = 2
MA method = Simple
Apply to = Close
Deviation percent = 0.0032
The result looked strange, the envelopes had almost merged together as one line. Perhaps I entered the parameters wrong, so I check the Envelopes properties window and the deviation percent was 0.00 not 0.0032.
OK, so I must have typed it in wrong, so I re-enter 0.0032, but the same thing happened. In the Envelopes properties window 0.0032 always becomes 0.00 when you re open the properties window. It is like the deviation percent will only accept a value of two decimal places and the rest is truncated.
If this is true of the indicator placed on a chart does the Envelopes indicator behave in the same way when running in an EA?
i.e. when the EA runs, does it turn 0.0032 into 0.00 for USDJPY?
For GBPJPY turn 0.0072 into 0.00 ?
For CHFJPY turn 0.012 into 0.01 ?
etc
So, I did the following with the strategy tester.
1. Ran Phoenix on the strategy tester on USDJPY with the "Percent" parameter left as 0.0032.
2. When it finished clicked on the Open Chart button.
3. On the chart that opened up, I looked at the Envelopes deviation percent parameter, it was 0.10 not 0.0032
What happened? Was0.0032 truncated to 0.00? Did the system therefore use the default value of 0.10 ???????
Perhaps I am doing something wrong?
Can anyone please explain?
Many thanks, Mark
