Japenese Yen Takes Effect Of Corean Blasts

I bought JYZ6 at 008487 but the very next day it dropped after takning effect of coerean nuclear tests and it came down to 008431 ans not leaving its home b/w 30 to 40. I fear it may drop further. I have decided to wait till the effect of the blasts faden and it may rise to 8500 and abve. Since its RSI is highly supporting at 27, 28 . What do u think about this

Europeans normally just choose the letter that is most commonly used in their native language when transcribing foreign words that contain the "k" sound.
Was there some confusion as to what he was talking about?

Spelling Korea with a 'C' is acceptable.
Its basically the pre 20th century spelling of the name, although it is still used quite extensively. Just around the corner from my place there is a Corean restaurant.

My better half is also Korean so she validated this for me when I asked the question some time ago.

Actually, the real skinny on the Corea vs Korea spelling dates back to when the japanese colonized Chosun (the name of the dynastic rule at that time, what we now know as Korea). Since the japanese were running the show, they wanted the name of their country to come first in the spelling, and romanized it as Korea (since J comes before K, but not C). For this reason many Koreans still write "Corea" as a matter of defiance to the former Japanese occupation. Prior to japanese occupation, the word was romanized more frequently with a C than a K, it was the japanese who changed that.

The actual word Korea comes from the "Koryo" dynasty. When dutch explores first crash landed in korea, it was during the Koryo dynasty, and the name stuck as far as foreigners were concerned. Koreans themselves don't actually refer to their country as "Korea" unless speaking in english, the proper term for korea generally is still Chosun (all north koreans and some older south koreans still call it this exclusively) while the popular term for south korea is hanguk (or less commonly NAM hanguk, nam means south) and the term for north korea is bukhan, buk meaning north. Look at many tires in the US today and you will see that a lot of them are from a brand called Hangook tires, thats the same as hanguk, or the name of south korea in the korean language.

Just a few thoughts from someone who lived there for a few years. I am a bit of a korea/korean language fanatic.

They say that another test may be possible however so i would deffinatly have a stop loss in.

But from someone who is surely more wise to geo-political relations to currency, i seen some analyst on cnn market watch say that if USD/JPY holds above 119.40 that it will most likely go to 121 before it got much more strength.

Just a couple of thoughts on it.

As for myself i shorted Eur/JPY at 150.07.
My thoughts at the time was that JPY is getting pressured to make the currency stronger from europe, and the spike from this event was only 40 pips or so. Did not look like it had anything to push it up farther at the time.

See it fail at 119.80 repeatedly.

Option houses will protect their interest by selling and selling to avoid paying.

Where can you find out up to date information on where the options stand? I've always been curious about this.

I only use FXCM's squawk box to get some info... It could be "SELF" serving squawks trying to protect themselves by influencing others to think that way too.

I thought I'd give you props for the recognition even though I know this post has nothing to do with the thread.

I love gold, so I hoped that it would rise after the Korean test. But it didn't react very much. So I assume the market did the same with the yen, not much. Maybe if Kim Jung Il does a second one, things will change. But the present reaction is shrugging.

Why you argue about the spelling of Korea/Corea when in fact the Official Name is Hankuo (or Hankok) as translated from their traditional Chinese Character Name?

Korea is the name for the favous oriental root crop known in the west as Ginseng. Korea (the place), in ancient times, was a source of high quality root crop highly sought by the chinese royals and thus the chinese called this country the Land of Korea.

Koreans, though having their own language different from the Chinese characters, still use Chinese Characters for their official names.

Did you even read my post? How do you come off posting this? I talked about what hanguk means and its current role. Ginseng has nothing to do with the name of Korea. Try actually reading and responding to what people say next time.

You are way off, I'm afraid. If you want to get all technical "hanguk" is not the OFFICIAL name of anything, in south Korea its DAE-HAN-MIN-GUK (which is great-"han"-people/citizenry-land if you break it down by characters). Han is the name of a specific heritage in southern china/manchuria/korea area. It is also a former Korean dynasty and a fairly common Korean surname. In that sense, "Han" could be translated as Korea. Thus, nowadays, south Korea (as I said in my previous post, if you read it) is called Hanguk, or "Han"-land. North Korea is now known (to south koreans at least) as Buk-han, or north-"han". Inside north korea, they still refer to korea as a whole by the name Chosun, which was the last dynasty before the japanese occupation. Because of this, many older south koreans still refer to south korea and both koreans generally as Chosun.

The name Hanguk was not popularized until relatively recently, and the Chinese had nothing to do with it. As I stated in my last post, the dynasty when the dutch accidentally landed in korea (cheju island) was the Koryo dynasty, and the name was taken, pronounced, and romanized as Korea/Corea. Koryo=>Korea Even though the dynasties changed later, the western name for the country stayed the same.

I don't know where you get the ginseng thing, that is completely wrong, thats not the word for ginseng in chinese or korean (its in-sam in Korean, jen-shen in chinese). And yes, SOME (but not all) words in korean are based on chinese characters. Official names are typically rooted in Chinese characters, but this is not always the case. Pure korean words, such as above mentioned Chosun can be official names/titles etc. This word Chosun is not chinese at all, it can't be broken down, its pure korean.

If you had read the posts, you would realize that we were talking about why there are differing romanizations of "Korea" or "Corea", not the official name of south korea, which isn't even what you said it is, but is an irrelevant topic anyway.
