The problem is the opposite side is still harbouring the idea and possibility of a 2nd referendum. If this possibility would have been killed off in the first place, then the choice is clear: deal or no deal, either way its brexit. And if it is brexit anyway, no one will challenge May because no one want to assume the PM role and carry the hot potato.

Whoever put on the table the possibility of a 2nd referendum is just further dividing the country. Even if the 2nd referendum result in UK not going for Brexit, EU will treat UK differently in future because EU know UK has lost its bargaining card and they will use their leverage and advantage over UK because they know UK will never go for brexit.

Wait until UK is footing the bill for those rogue EU member nation debt. Wait until UK has to accept large share of refugees and inherit a huge social problem with high unemployment rate etc etc. Wait until UK is running a high inflation rate but ECB cannot raise rate (like in Germany case). Then only then will these ppl know Brexit is not such a bad deal.

Having read large swathes of it last night (it is so boring that I eventually fell asleep for a few hours.), I don't see how anyone can support a deal where All the advantages are given away along with getting stuck in something that would require the other side to give their permission to leave! EU would have no reason to negotiate further on anything and could just dangle UK on strings for essentially ever. We're better just leaving and sorting it out after the event...

I'll be amazed if this gets through parliament.

The answer is and has always been that we need to leave and then sort out what happens. This whole deal nonsense has entertained, but ultimately been something of a red herring.

EU will realistically negotiate the things they need from us when and only when they have to. Until now it has been a game of let's see how hard they can make this and let's see how much of a corner they can back UK into. Their goal was to grab as many concessions and inflict as much lasting control as they could get.

With a clean exit, they're negotiating with a UK that has already left and it completely nullifies all that and they are now trading concession for concession.

This emotive talk about hard/soft - crashing out. It is all just simply leaving. Leaving in name only benefits the EU cabal solely and no-one else.

pound is still good to buy expesially GBP/JPY buy below 145 sell above 147, it keeps going down to low 140's then back up to 149 and higher, its been doing it since June last year. Fundamentally once the brexit is over the pound is a lot stronger than the yen, as they are able to start raising rates, have less debt and some inflation. Whereas Japan is grinding along the ground trying to dig growth out of a mountain of debt. I just cant see Japan being safe forever, eventually people will get sick of the fact their bonds pay so little yet they have...

Who do you think is more capable than May to secure a better deal with EU and why? Why would EU concede to May's successor and take a lesser deal than what they have agreed currently? Is the no deal scenario more likely under May's successor?

I have no answer to the above question and would like to tap the wisdom of the community on this. If there is no answer from the community, then that itself is the answer.

The problems of today is the foot dragging that preceded it. May is teflon covered - 5 hours of cabinet meeting yesterday - 3 hours and over 50 questions directed at her by all of parliament - and she remains in post. There are no real contenders to fill her boots. The ERG (Mogg and Co.) are duplicitous and egregious coves (to use their own language) and only really have their own ambitions to the front. May will just 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

Money seems to be the most important stuff on this planet... at least in modern societies. We took this paradigm to its extreme. Now it seems to be more important than families, feelings, human relations etc. All these once stable pillars of any society are now, in continuous rush for money, becoming obsolete and detrimental to money making mentality.

No one is essentially spared of its touch. So yes, different people or organisations have developed different tools for currency manipulation (which is only one form of making profit). Politics is only one of them.

This song is rather old... Spain had problems after all that 'golden goods' came in from south America's Inka for example. And there were also more 'official' attempts with mercantilism:

With the importance and dependence on money, the number of tools grew. Funny enough mercantilism was never actually gone. We can see it in action today when one particular country is again closing its borders and raising % of its 'cut' when goods are imported from elsewhere. One other country is dropping out of common market for the same reason to raise borders (ssshhhh, don't tell anyone... and to more easily manipulate the currency, prices etc in whichever direction is wanted at the time). But every country is doing the same so no new news here.

IMO EU will not agree to any agreement that doesn't support the rules already agreed within the common market or any agreement that is very different from already established agreements with third countries as Norway, Canada etc. So..... is this or no deal and plenty of border issues.

But then again I may be wrong.
