{quote} That was really inspiring! If I can share something, not about Forex, but on Brazilian Futures Market: People here are doing a LOT scalping. We have a different regulation which allows to see which broker puts the order so we can follow the big ones. This makes a HUGE difference in performance. Specially when you see a big guy placing big lots several times. Maybe you could practice safely in it and then go to forex. But its up to you. Cheers

Hello, are you a Futures trader or do you use Forex also? By the way, I have no experience on Futures; I am comfortable with Forex only.

Hi Darren! How are you?
Well, for now I only trade BRLUSD futures in Brazilian B3.
But as I get more experience I´ll sure try forex as well.
Trading futures here don´t have some things to pay attention like slippage and spread (we pay fixed fees, so it´s easier to understand and to be sure your operations were successfull).
Either way scalping strategies work for every market so I´m trying to learn something from here to use there.
Please feel free to ask me anything about brazilian market, I´ll be happy to assist.

But more important, I'd like people on here to post their best scalping strategies to feel free to share. Let us scapl together,

I short term trade (almost all trades 1-30mins duration) on 1 min chart. It's not classic scalping, i.e. playing the spread, can't easily do that as a retail trader.

Method looks to follow the current/dominant direction of prices:
1. Observe a clear directional flow in progress
2. Wait for a counter-flow retracement to happen & fail, primary flow resuming
3. Enter in direction of primary flow, stop a little beyond extreme of retracement
4. Initial target just shy of previous flow extreme before the retracement started
5. If market strong at target can play for a further leg, move stop to breakeven, exit on expansion or stalling
NB. Don't take the trade unless the reward:risk at the initial target is at least 1:1

The method is simple, subjective rather than mechanical, and could be used on any time frame.
For short term trading it is important only to trade low round trip cost markets, otherwise costs will overwhelm you.
Strict risk control is vital, always have a hard stop and always respect it, trading is only ever a probability game
The key is to keep taking all valid trades and let the edge (trading with the trend) generate the profits for you.

And I agree with Skissors earlier, keep it simple, boring and repetitive:

It's amazing how uninteresting simple profitable trading can be. We have to ruin it by trading C setups to keep the thrill.

I can only ensure one thing .. you try to scalp you will lose money.

scalping in itself is beginner level as you can not make money doing it and only beginners try it.

only beginners believe in it because it is the first time window they try because they can not sit in front of a computer all day or do not have patience.

thus the first streak they hit even tho rare will occur due to large sample size and reinforce bad habits

its only until spread consumption consumes rare occurrence profit that left brain fights right brain and new ideas are forged to replace beginning ones.

remember trading is a path no matter where you start you start with simplistic ideas.. that lead to larger understanding of price action(or whatever the term of the day is) and management of self in order to create profitability

For beginner level; you should focus on learning & practice! Don’t pick any trading style blindly unless you are very sure on your own trading skill.

Hi, Let me share my best way of "scalping". 1. I use different pairs at the same time, 2. I use wide bollinger bands (35 - 50, 3 StdDev) to hunt for reversals, 3. I don't use SLs, 4. My SL is time limit (e.g. max 20 - 24 hours for H1 charts, from beginning to the end of scalping), 5. I use small positions, and I am basketing if they go in not desired direction 6. The most important: I use an EA that is automatically closing each position with small TP, and closes all positions, no matter + or -, when Equity reaches my desired level (e.g. +5% - +15%)...

Would you be prepared to go into a bit more detail about your strategy? Are you still using it, any alterations, and after price moves into the upper or lower bands what do you look for to actually trigger the trade?

Hi matthew

I don't use this strategy in a way I described, however my current one is quite based on it.
Alterations:
previously I was trading smaller money, higher risk, smaller timeframes comparing to now.
My current strategy uses different trade sizes and TPs in relation to price, I don't use MT (but it is a longer story).
If You are interested in this strategy I can try to find EA written for.

About picking the trades: I wasn't thinking too long, I was basing on Bbands width - if bands were wide I was trading inside bands direction, If thin I was trading outside bands direction.

I hope it is clear. If not, please ask!
Regards
Marek

scalping sometimes not good trading strategy , because most of the time it causes great risk and without narrowest trading spreads its difficult to ensure regular profit by scalping that brings profit in a short time.

I just found a scalping strategy that trades from o/b and o/s levels, from support / resistance areas with a tight stop and a 1:2 / 1:3 return with an above 50% win rate. The strategy is called the KISS strategy and its offered by someone called Kenya Horton. Ive just started trialling the strategy today so am excited to see how my demo-ing goes. For those that are interested, here are the basic rules:

For a buy:

1) On a 5 minute chart, you see the following:
- price wick above or close above the Bollinger Band (20, close)
- RSI shows below 20 (7, close) ** can also be below 30 if you are happy with the set up
- Stochastic shows below 20 (5, 3, 3) ** can also be below 30 if you are happy with the set up
- MACD signal line crosses (3, 10, 9)

2) Once you see the 5 minute confirmations, you flick over to a 15 minute chart to see the same confirmations

3) Whilst you wait for the confirmations on a 15 minute chart, you need to go to a 1 hour chart and draw:
- the predominent trendline
- support resistance lines near to price action (for entry and take profit targets)

4) Once 4 confirmations have been done on a 15 minute chart, you want to enter but no more than 3 - 4 pips from the support resistance zone. Stop loss = 8 pips. Take profit target placed at first most logical s/r area with no less than 1:2 R:R.

This strategy has been proven profitable over many hundreds of trades. There are also super simple videos on youtube showing entry, exit etc.

Enjoy!

not agree mate , there is no trading strategy which work for all time , the result from strategy depends on your money management , so we have to develop our money management approach first of all.

i think in spite of having most powerful analyzing trade knowledge and experience , trading can be useless for sometimes , because there is no 100% in Forex trading. so sometimes we have to depend on luck when trading in live.
