Question about basket charts. Are the buttons at the top right of the screen supposed to work? I have the S9 HAS Basket TS on a basket chart which is in profit by 200 pips. I clicked the "Draw SL Line" and it put the stop loss line at the trade entry point and closed all trades!! Can someone tell me which of those buttons are supposed to be workable on a basket chart?

Made a big mistake on my CORE5 Basket placing the bottom BO line too close to the price after market open, this then caught a short trade that reversed big time with $450 lose:

I did fair better with my other test setups: my DM+1440HM, did not find any trades today; my HAS 30min Tokyo+London Open went into a sea of red before making a late recovery:

Update - here are some HAS Basket results M30 & H1 1/21/1/13 & 2/6/3/2 with HM, RSI, JPY and GBP baskets and a good example of a wrongly timed entry which eventually came good! Thanks for all the brilliant advice. Hope I'm starting to see the bigger picture: running M15 & M30 alongside H1 seems very useful specially if jumping in late, also increasing the EL and allowing 200+ room for growth seems essential for keeping in with a strong trend. Best for now.

Late in the day but what the heck this is just practice so threw together a H1 basket and used the BO line to get me in when the basket turned south.

It was around the .618 so I was looking for a break to the south and it broke and so far is OK, you can just see the BO line under the dotted yellow horizontal line.

I have now placed my trailing SL and will let it run and see what it does, I will probably close it down in a couple of hours as the new day will start in roughly 3 hours.

Maybe tighten up the TSL in an hour or so if it is still running.

No add to trade yet, the first one would be at the red dotted line if it goes that far unless another one forms before then.

Its nice to see all pairs in the GREEN. I forgot to turn the graph on.

Looking good guys and great posts.

The secrete is in picking the right basket the entry and then the exit. LOL

Seems simple enough, that's why 95% go bust. LOL

OK, time to call it a day, a little pullback so will just close it down and build another basket one or two hours after the new day starts.

Not bad for just a few hours.

Thanks for this Gene. I'm trying to refine my pairs selection process. Could you please elaborate how you arrived at these pairs? Also do you normally construct the basket then check for 0.618 and if necessary rebuild the basket using a different set and so on or is there some experience and gut feel involved here? Thanks

Still experimenting with best way to build baskets.

This basket used the CORE 5 pairs as a starting point on H1 then set the correlation to auto H1 with .9 = Correlation per cent and added these pairs that correlated to the CORE 5 pairs into the CORE 5 basket . So this gave me 5 pairs (CORE 5) plus 5 more that correlated with the original CORE 5.

I then look at the basket chart and see if there are any patterns or possible FIB turning points, if it looks like there maybe I then place a BO line in the direction I think it will break to.

If the chart shows nothing that looks like a good trade I will wait on that chart and I will build other baskets to see what they look like and if they have any possible good pending trade potential.

I create baskets from the CORE 5, CORE 14, currency groups, correlation, heat map, RSI and a combination of these, trying to pick the best that are moving in the same direction.

The market giveth and the market taketh away..........
My demo Core5 basket reached a dizzy height of $2.3k in profit before it reversed and (presumably) closed at B/E before taking a long basket which also immediately reversed and got stopped out for a loss of $250
Of interest is that I had placed a H4 support line on the chart which is where the original short basket reversed so may need to look at using S/R levels for profit taking.
My live account took a long which got stopped out so am 0/2 live.

Hi Eugene,

As reported by me earlier and confirmed by another member, there is a problem with the TP / SL lines in the HAS basket TS.
I just manually opened a basket and hit the 'Draw TP Line' button which was drawn at the same place where I had just opened my basket and all trades were immediately closed.
The same thing happens when you draw a SL line.
Could you look into that please?

Can you send a screen shot of the chart with the HAS TS on it so I can see where the BO lines were at.

I also placed version 3 of the basket TS at the Web Site, it calculates the TP and SL placement a little different, so give that a try.

I don't use the BO lines.
I just placed a manual short at what I thought was resistance and then tried to place a TP line at support but the line placed itself at the same price that I had just taken the trades at so closed them all down.
Just a thought - should the TP / SL lines be placed at say 500 pips from the current price level to enable the user to then adjust the line where it is wanted?

The new version appears to place both the TP and the SL line 300 pips from the price line so now working much better - thanks for that fix!

Once the basket is closed it does not starting for the second one eventhough the button is Go at profit is green.And in new panel there is no reset button.

Hi Gene, may be missing some fundamentals here; could you please confirm if by only using Use_BO_Line_Break = true in S9_HAS_Basket_TS_v2s settings (Use_HAS_Direction_Entry = false etc) I should be getting a trigger on crossing either of the BO lines irrespective of direction?

Also as you mention BO lines can be manually changed/placed into different positions, however in my case they seem jump back to their original position. Please let me know if I'm not following this correctly?

You guys are trying to do things that the TSs were not designed to do.

Each TS is a trading system with a list of set rules.

Don't make up new rules and think the TS will follow them.

1) In HAS v2s it required the 2 BO lines to be present in order to calculate where to put any TP or SL lines, since this is an offline basket chart I can not use pips to do this as the price numbers on the chart don't mean anything and can't be converted to pips. I changed this in all basket version 3 TSs to now use a different method to do this.

The 3 basket TSs have all been upgraded to version 3 at the Web Site to use this new calculation.

2) The BO lines in the HAS TS can not be moved as they are in reference to the last upper and lower Fractals, that's the way this TS works. If you want movable ones then you have to use the Trend Basket BO TS.

3) Remember the break of a line by the wick does not count as I have said the wicks do not always represent where the price has gone. Also the previous candle must have closed on the other side of the BO line.

4) You cannot place the same TS on different time frame offline charts of the same basket as they will interfere with one another. You can only place the TS on the chart you intend to trade on, entries and exits must be made from this same chart unless you use a setting in the DB, you can have other offline charts of the same basket open but you cannot place any TS on them using the same pairs as they will see all trades taken for the pairs in its list and will interfere with the main trading chart no mater what settings you have selected.
