Hello,
can we make a little list of swap rates? So to have an overview which broker has temporarily the highest swap rates / pays the biggest interest to us.
Would be nice.

FXDD gives about USD 24 - 24.20 per lot for long GBP/JPY (varies daily).

the screenshot of the fxcm rates you have seems off. i have an account and in relative terms the rolls are higher. i'm not sure if they vary rolls depending on account type or balance though.what type of account do you have and is that a US Dollar based account?

I noticed in the above swap rate comparison that dbFX's rate for GBP/USD is showing a negative swap for buying while all the others offer a positive roll. Is this correct??

..................................Intr Sell Intr Buy
dbFX Deutsche Bank AG .......0.25 -2.26

Cms Capital Market Services -0.60 0.40

FXCM Forex Capital Markets -0.05 0.03

I have a list of oandas current swap and interestrates. AFAIK they are one of the best in this regard. Its in the common format of % per year with daily compounding tho, and not in pips per lot per day like in your comparison. I can post it if someones interested.

This thread has been quiet for a while, but i think the question can be better answered by doing a comparison of the same pairs across brokers on the same day. I have taken those with 4 stars from forexbastards.com and looked at GBPJPY and NZDJPY for Tuesday 6th November, 2007.
Someone else might like to take another set of brokers and compare their rates, and this question might be narrowed down at bit better.
Another way to do this is to take the same brokers and take some other pairs and see if the comparitive value of broker's rates stand up across other pairs. Edited: The Hotspotfx numbers were emailed to me after one of the UK employees dug around the backoffice to find them. His other offer was to use the US version of their platform and do a calculation from the pairs there. With MB Trading, if you put all the pairs in your Watchlist, you can see all the swaps without having to have a open trade to see it-if you insert the columns "Buy Prem," and "Sell Prem"; that is, if you are working with your live account. This means you do not have to switch out of your live account to demo to see the swaps, if you have open trades there.

I get a negative swap rate from Saxo for the NZD/JPY and I cannot figure out why...should that not be heavily positive?

Hello-

I am interested in re-visiting this thread.

Can anyone recommend a broker who pays exceptionally well?

I know FXCM is meant to pay well, and Saxo, and Oanda pays by the second, but which broker pays the most?

Is here anyone who is really interested in swap based strategies? Maybe we can help to each other. So if there were one who had some kind of swap rates historical chart from one or more brokers, or at least methodology how to built this sort of things, well it would be really nice when he would post that here

Maybe that statistics already exists and is posted somewhere on this forum, who knows.. or better to say: who knows?

ok, i have a question about hedghing, the questions might be dumb but i want to know answers lol.

so...
1) how long do you have to have a trade for the swap rate to be applied? all day? for example will swap rate be applied if buy right before the end of the day? for example: if day ends at 1700, i buy a pair at 1655, and sell it at 1705, will the swap be applied to my trade?
next question:
2) if I buy and sell a pair at the same price so that they offset each other in order to protect my account. lets say broker pays 10 for long and charges 15 for short for that pair, can I close my short position 5 min before the end of the day and carry my long to the next and close it 5 min into the next day? So this way my risk equals the width of the spread.

Let me know what do you guys think

Thanks.

PipBoy

PipBoy3000:

1) swap will be paid/charged, if you carry the position from one trading day to an other, no matter how long you hold the position
2) you can do that, if you close the position before the end of the trading day and reopen it next trading day no swap will be paid/charged

+something interesting: some brokers pay/charge triple SWAP on specific days of the week
