So i'm a kid, stupid, dumb, stubborn?

I'm pretty sure you're referring to yourself here buddy, this thread was started to help people to 'preserve their sight' like your answer to my question.

People wear sunglasses because the sun is bright and they need to protect their eyes, same goes for the computer screen.

Just because you have additional information doesn't mean that i'm wrong.

There's also anti-glare computer glasses on the market. I'm not sure how well they work, but it seems like another option.

I know most people that have no problems with their eyes won't have any use for this, infact they would think 'my eyes are great and can witstand anything'.

That was me a few years ago, and until recently i noticed my eyes started getting a bit squinty and getting sensetive about the screen brightness.

Your eyes are only able to endure so much for so long until you get these symptoms.

I've been using this screendimmer for a while now and my eyes feel a lot lighter and don't feel the need to squint or get strained for staring too long at my screen.

All i'm trying to say here is be aware and act upon things rather than think 'oh it is never going to happen to me' before it's too late.

Ps. i'm not selling anything here other than creating awareness, so it's every person to himself.

1. what is your eye sight worth to you ....
YES ... too much screentime is detrimental to your eyes to a degree ( whatever that is ... lol ) but it can be mitigated somewhat ....
1. you get what u pay for .... if you buy cheap crappy monitors ... guess what will happen ...
2. dark backgrounds are much easier on your eyes .
MY eyes DID NOT deteriate @ All .... if you take care of them ...
i really really dont care if you believe me or not .... facts are facts .... i can prove it ....
take a break once in a while ....
my desk sits by a window ... every once in a while i exercise my eyes ..... focus intently on a very far object for a short time ... THEN focus on my dsek/ screen ... back and forth ...... then go back to work ....

What I do is to simply set the background colour on the charts to a very dim colour, which on mine is a sort of dull greeny grey. Black and white candlesticks show up great against this, and then I just use moving average colours that stand out well against it. It's no strain on the eyes at all like this. Just avoid bright colours for your backround, including white.

Here's a screenshot of my charts. The background is a very easy on the eyes grey, and the bollinger is just a higher enough shade so I can see it. As you can see, everything is highly visible whilst being easy on the eyes.

Eye Strain may also be due to LED Flicker caused by low end monitors.

Adjusting your chart background colours to less bright background will also help as Cat suggested, You could also adjust the
brightness manually down to a level where you are comfotable.

same thing happened to me , never had the slightest problem with my eyes until i started noticing the monitor eye strain and started reducing my monitor exposure

btw i've tested your software for multi monitors and it works great - only thing is , that it is quite heavy on CPU usage , so i'm gonna try the other one for single monitor

hey fxpro , i know a full year is over since last reply , but if you're still reading this , do you know of any low emission high quality monitors with the least eyestrain ?

I will definitely be using some of this software, I look at computer screens a lot and it's certainly a strain on the eyes.
I'm always reducing screen brightness and I also wear sunglasses for about 10 months of the year!

I've never gone as far as wearing sunglasses inside to protect my eyes from screen glare. A good quality screen should preclude the need for that to begin with.

I've actually known people who have done that, but they had serious eye problems and needed the added protection.
my monitors are always set so low that others find it difficult to read. 20 years of working on computers and still don't need glasses so it must be working.
Hey guys not sure why people have a problem with screen brightness but thought I would share. Windows 10 has a "Night Light" mode. Its intended for using the computer late at night so that you don't get your Carcadian Rhythim out of whack by staring at bright lights. You can schedule it to sunset to sunrise, or if you prefer you can schedule it manually and have it on all the time. It dims the screen a bit and takes all the white light out of the light.

hope this helps. If you use Windows 10. Just go into the settings app an search for "Night Light"

That's very good to know. I think I will definitely use that.
