How Institutions Position Themselves In Dollar This Week

For Dollar, the latest COT as of Tuesday,July 24, 2018, institutions increased net long positions 11 weeks in a row

Currently net long 25,271 contracts, up 6,347 from the previous week.

72% long exposure vs 28% short exposure , Longs added 6% and shorts dropped 6% from the previous week

Institutions continued to accumulate dollar while price dropped from 95.65 high to 94.21 low. So we may have not seen dxy top yet..

How Institutions Position Themselves In Euro/Usd This Week

Last week, institutions increased their long position , which was shown in the latest COT as of Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

The institutions net long Euro positions increased last week by 8,233 contracts to 29,640 contracts,
2,125 long positions were added, and 6,108 short positions were closed . Now Longs total 179,515 contracts vs shorts total 149,875 contracts .

54% long exposure vs 46% short exposure, which 1% increased in longs and 1% decreased in shorts from the previous week

The week Euro started at 1.1711,rallied up to 1.1744 high , it started its selloff, moved down to 1.1575 low, hit with Trump weaken dollar comments,
then it rallied up to 1.1750 high, closed at 1.1683 on 7/24/2018

Longs being added and shorts being closed, which indicates they may challenge daily supply zone 1.1750-1.1850 once more ;

We see after COT report, Euro did rally up to 1.1743 high , but back down again after ECB presser this Thursday

After a few failed attempts, it seemed there were insufficient potential institution buyers remained to force a breakout of 1.1750-1.1850 range

Long Term Less Bullish, Short Term Limited Recovery.

Please note institutions take weeks and months to build a position in the currency market. For Euro, they have built their net long positions since 5/9/2017.
Therefore, the bullish sentiment is more for long term outlook, not intended for short term trading.

For Shorts: L1: 1.1641 L2:1.1629 L3: 1.109

For Longs: L1: 1.1666 L2:1.1678 L3: 1.1698

Currently @8pm est
1H Uptrend stop : 1.1623;
4H Downtrend stop : 1.1733

I figured it would have tested 1621 again. More so with a lower week and day close. Month wise 1683 has its merit to close july +. Last week did close above 1621 after it was below. I have some mixed signals going into July's ending. June's Doji ending lead me to believe. That June highs would be tested again before July ended. July is still open. But w/o a day close above 1756 or below 1553. It looks like more range..

Eur/Usd: Daily Market Trends Update 7/30/2018

Eur/Usd On 7/30/2018 at 8am est.. Boulder Multi Time Frame System:

1H, Uptrend, Trend stop at 1H close 1.1647, Running Period: 23x1H
4H, Downtrend, Trend stop at 4H close 1.1733, Running Period: 10 x 4H
Daily, Downtrend, Trend stop at day close 1.1754, Running Period: 81 days.
Weekly, Downtrend, Trend stop at day close 1.2411, Running Period: 9week


( Note: Those stops will change with hour close and price action)

Trading Strategy:

Currently H1 uptrend, H4, daily and weekly are all downtrend. A mixed signal, range trade.
If you trade 1H trend, preference is to long as long as downtrend stop 1.1647 held at 1H close

No trades today. tempting to sell around 1.1708. but previous monthly pin bar alerts me not to sell Euro
Read the chart... Fundies are catalyst...
