I think the better way is to avoid entering any trade if the EA detects unusual volatility before the scheduled time of announcement.

I've made $250 in the last few hours on AUD and GBP news on my OANDA real account.

Hi Teamaker,
Thanks for sharing this EA.
In the new feature of version 30 it is mentioned '2) Handle special symbol like: EURUSDf, EURUSD.c, etc.' - Does this need to do any settings in the EA or MT4 platform?

I'm asking because my broker is using a ".s" as the postfix in the symbol, and currently all my trade with this EA (Version 31) got disabled.

The first line in the screenshot with symbol 'EURUSD.s' is from another EA and it is working fine.

I should have picked this up earlier but, although my 1k account has been making trades this week, neither of my two standard accounts on v31 has. The Next Event Update Time has been correct but I hadn't noticed that the next Trading Time and next Order Landing Time were at 2030. 01.01.

I have restarted one of the standard accounts and it looks ok now. I have something running on the other standard account that I don't want to lose so I need to make sure I have that secure before I restart.

My bad for not checking properly but thought I'd flag it up so that others make sure they check all three dates.

@billbss - thanks for your post otherwise I wouldn't have checked!

Hi Simon, i suspect you put the EA in the wrong chart. looks like your existing broker support EURUSD.s, but you put the EA at EURUSD, which does not support live trading. please take a look or send me PM if you still have issue. thx.

Hepsibah, after this round restart the MT4 terminal, you won't see 2030 any more and roll over issue should be resolved. thx.

And how to quantify,"unusual volatility?" This will produce a spate of unresolvable complications, all with conflicting dynamics and, who knows what impact on profits. Lost $85 on the USDCAD a few minutes ago. What is the USDCAD coming up in an hour? I tend to lose on the obscure news announcements. It might wonder enough to trigger a trade then fall back down. Thinking of disabling it for the one coming up.

In this case do you know how to put the EA at EURUSD.s? In other words, how to open a chart with EURUSD.s?

I agree with Pippopotamus. This EA has been built BASED ON volatility. A news event creates market volatility, a clear identified direction and "some" momentum at a given time. All is in place for a trade.
There will be losers and winners. Right now the volume of winners outpace the number of losing trades, for my period of reference. Some of the winning trades are simply bigger than the losing trades which create an edge to help an account grow. Why changing what is working ?
I, like everybody, am disappointed when a losing trade occurs. The AUDUSD trade of last night was a loser for me while a winner for many. Too bad for me. I am happy for those who made money. Their broker pricing/slippage/spread and volume ALLOWED that to happen.
But I am not going to through away a program that on my live platform for several weeks has a more that 70% winning trades. Yesterday night I got a taste of the remaining 30%. Fine. I accept that. This is trading.

in the MT4 terminal, in the menu, please select view/symbols. you should find the currency which allow you to trade. if you still have questions, you might need to contact your broker first. thx.

I think everyone agrees with that. It goes without saying.
I have never seen a news event that fit that description what wasn't listed on the FF calendar.
I humbly suggest that is where Teamaker schedule his trades from. The non moving events sometimes move just enough to trigger trades that fall back to the SL.
