GBPUSD – a bullish pin bar on important support – 16/07/18

GBPUSD – despite the holiday season, quite a lot has happened on the popular cable, among others due to the turmoil associated with the resignation of several important politicians from the posts in the Therese May government . The movements were dynamic, and the last session of the week ended with a bullish pin bar with a range of 135 pips. USDJPY – will the H4 chart show us the beginning of the correction? – 18/07/18

Looking at the H4 chart, we can see that today the pair reached local resistance 113.15. The MACD oscillator appears to form a top and if a 4-hour candle (12:00-16: 00) is bearish, there is a chance for further declines according to the PA + MACD strategy, the coverage of which is the closest support at 112.35. There will also be a bearish divergence between the oscillator and the price graph, which will be an additional support for the downward scenario. Because the pair is in a strong uptrend, this correction can be quite short (112.35?) And the pair will return to increases to follow the aforementioned level 113.65.

The GBPAUD after breaking out from consolidation thru the bottom seem to take the southern direction. If it is maintained, you can consider looking for opportunities to sell after correction. A similar situation occurs at GBPAUD.


CHFJPY

Correction of the last growth impulse on the CHFJPY pair reached the Fibo 33-66% zone. The dynamic support in the form of a 20-period SMA is also getting closer to the price. Therefore, you can look for opportunities to buy after the signal indicating the end of the correction. Similarly on USDJPY.

USDCAD
The short-term trend changed on USDCAD, where another, higher high appeared. Correction of the last growth impulse led the pair to its 66-per cent lift, in the vicinity of which there is also a 20-period SMA. There may be a buy signal that ends the correction in this area.

USDJPY – Bearish Outside Bar – 20/07/18

Analyzing the H4 chart two days ago, I expected declines after the confluence of events by PA + MACD strategy – that is, the creation of a declining candle was accompanied by the creation of a maximum on the MACD oscillator. The forecast was accurate and today we witnessed quite sharp declines on this pair.

Analysis for Newbies: EURNZD – bullish flag in broader consolidation

The quotations of the EURNZD since the high close to 1.7475, from November last year, are moving in a consolidation between this level and support within 1.6600.

Most interesting setups of the day – 23/07/18 GBPAUD, GBPCAD

GBPAUD
Looking at the quotations of the pair GBPAUD we will notice that as a result of the increases lasting from 5 June this year, the rate reached the area of previously defeated support (now resistance) 1.7930, coinciding precisely with the measurement of the 50% Fibonacci correction, where the supply response appeared. Despite this, the zone was not immediately rejected, and a consolidation was created in its vicinity, from which only last week pair broke downwards. At the moment we are witnessing a retest of the lower limit of this box, and if only this resistance is rejected, we could expect pair to fall again.

ESMA regulations – and what next?

This post is for EU traders, others must not worry...


On January 3, 2018, ESMA – the European Securities and Markets Authority was granted interventions for products in connection with the entry into force of the MiFIR regulation. Thanks to this ESMA can temporarily dictate regulations in all 28 EU Member States. As with many new regulations, the general direction – ensuring much-needed consumer protection – is welcomed – but in certain situations, it can lead to unintended negative consequences, about which I write in the last paragraph.
Let’s start with these beneficial effects of the new regulations. The goal is to protect unwary and inexperienced consumers from taking risks that they do not understand and incur disproportionate financial losses. This is a glorious idea that most responsible CFD suppliers already adhere to.

Looking at the pairs today for possible signals for the EMA10 / 20 strategy, my attention was drawn to the quotations of two currency pairs: EURUSD and GBPUSD.
Potential short on EURUSD

EURUSD – consolidation in shape of a Triangle - 31/07

EURUSD – From the memorable 300 pips candlestick from June 13 this year. (caused by raising interest rates by the Fed in the US), the pair moves in consolidation with smaller and smaller daily ranges, resulting that the quotations are trapped in a triangle whose upper (resistance) and lower (support) arm is very carefully respected by the market.
Currently, the quotations are approaching the upper limitations of formation and it seems that this time it may be defeated. A strong impulse will be needed, perhaps Tuesday’s data on economic growth and inflation in the EU or Wednesday’s decision on the level of FED interest rates. Especially the second event, if the interest rates are left unchanged, it may surprise the dollar bulls negatively and give a strong growth impulse to the pair by weakening the USD...

Analysis for Newbies: EUR/CAD – Towards the South?

Recently we have witnessed the strengthening of the Canadian currency. Among the main reasons, one should mention was interest rate hike, good GDP dynamics readings, as well as the policy, i.e. growing chances for agreement among the NAFTA countries. On the other hand, for the Euro – yesterday we witnessed quite poor PMI readings from several countries. The graph shows the break and re-test of local resistance. It seems that the chart is heading south towards the lows from the end of May. We also have a similarly negative technical picture on the weekly chart...

GBPAUD -H&S yes, but where is the neckline? – 07/08/18

In the graph, we can see the characteristic shape of the Head and Shoulders formation, where the level of the shoulders and head is easy to determine (green rectangles), while the neck lines are a bit harder to find. At first glance, the line connecting the last two local minima (blue dotted) meets the neckline criteria and we can say that H&S is complete and it should be expected that after its defeating declines will gain momentum, and the target will be the further support 1.72 and next 1.6850.
But if we considered that the level parallel to the arm line (1.7975), ie 1.7375 (red dotted line) would be more appropriate, then H&S is still incomplete and currently we are missing ca 140p to reach it and finalize the formation. I am favouring the second version and treating the first line (1) as a local trend line, after its confirmed defeat, I will play on declines to the level of the latter (2), in my opinion, the “real” neckline of the H&S formation.
