Be careful Euro bulls .. institutions continue unwind their longs even when Euro rallied up to 1790s this week.. by reading 7/10 COT report.. more info soon....

How Institutions Position Themselves In Euro/Usd This Week

Last week, institutions resumed unwinding their longs, which was shown in the latest COT as of Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

The institutions net long Euro positions decreased last week by 12,390 contracts to 24,357 contracts, lowest amount since May 16, 2017.

9,604 long positions were closed, and 2,786 short positions were added as well . Now Longs total 179,401 contracts vs shorts total 155,044 contracts .

54% long exposure vs 46% short exposure, which 1% decreased in longs and 1% increased in shorts from the previous week

The week Euro started at 1.1657 , moved down to 1.1630 low , then rallied up to 1.1790 high on 7/9, then it started its selloff, closed at 1.1744 on 7/10/2018

More longs being closed at 1750-1790s area, it indicates they might think more drop to come; Shorts being added, which protected their longs positions in case of more price fall .

We see after COT report, Euro continued to sell off to 1.1613 low on Friday before it started to move up.,

Now Euro may on its way to challenge the daily supply zone 1.1750-1.1850 once again, a level where sellers will be active this week.

Long Term Less Bullish, Short Term Limited Recovery.

Please note institutions take weeks and months to build a position in the currency market. For Euro, they have built their net long positions since 5/9/2017.
Therefore, the bullish sentiment is more for long term outlook, not intended for short term trading.

For Dollar, the latest COT as of Tuesday,July 10, 2018, institutions increased net long positions 9 weeks in a row
Currently net long 18,685 contracts, up 13 from the previous week.

Price currently came to crucial daily resistance 95.

How Institutions Position Themselves In GBP/USD This Week

For GBP/USD, the latest COT as of Tuesday,July 10, 2018, institutions trimed net long positions 4 weeks in a row

Currently net long negative 40,403 contracts, reduced 11,623 from the previous week.

Price currently came to test daily demand zone 1.3110-1.3025.

Bearish bias remains…

1H, Uptrend, Trend stop at 1H close 1.1664, Running Period: 8x1H
4H, Downtrend, Trend stop at 4H close 1.1732, Running Period: 17 x 4H
Daily, Downtrend, Trend stop at day close 1.1763, Running Period: 71 days.
