Which Gold pair? Most people trade XAU/USD.

Since i know about forex from my friend, he suggest only USD/JPY pair for now..

if you are newcomer , it is more appropriate to avoid this pair due to its volatile nature .

I wouldn't even call it volatile, Gold has barely moved in months.

I used to agree with this, but now I see it as flawed. Yes, "a trader trades anythings that moves", but liquidity matters. If a market moves because traders can't get out, that's not a good thing. Spreads also matter.

The retail trader really should only be trading the following markets:

(In no particular order)

Group I

1. EUR/USD
2. USD/CHF
3. USD/CAD
4. GBP/USD
5. USD/JPY
6. AUD/USD
7. USD/MXN*
8. EUR/JPY*

* This pair can go here, but it still may be more appropriate under the next group.

Group II

If your home country** is not represented in the first group, then you might add it.

1. Home Country Currency/USD or USD/Home Country Currency
2. Home Country Currency/EUR or EUR/Home Country Currency
3. If your Home Country Currency is the EUR, then you could trade it against GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD

** Home Country is defined as the country in which you live. Not the place of your birth. Not the country that makes your favorite food or wine.

Again, traders need movement. As WRBtrader (formally known as Nihabashi) says, "The trader who fears volatility, fears profits". But there is a reason Goldman Sachs does not trade the Taiwanese Dollar (TWD) versus the South African Rand (ZAR). Or rough wheat futures.

If you need "action", seek help for your addiction, or take up a sport. Trading is a business.

I haven't traded Gold in weeks.
Generally speaking, I can't say am always profitable on any instrument. No trader is profitable 100%. When my profits are more than my losses, I'm content.

No one can be 100% profitable in the trading even after having an experience of years. If your winning trades are more than your losing trades then you are a successful trader.

Who is a successful trader actually its difficult to predict , only by means of winning trade its difficult to make sure who is successful in here. Successful trader has the ability to calculate the real faction of this market with certainly , he knows how to manage emotions when trading.

The best pairs for trade are the pairs with tighter spreads. That's why my favorite pairs for trade are: EURUSD, USDJPY, EURJPY, AUDUSD, AUDCAD, NZDJPY and NZDUSD

Wow, almost 7 pairs! Yes I am also comfortable with the major FX pairs; by the way do you use the same system for all these 7?

That is my approach as well. It's a long, difficult journey to even get to a point where you profit more than you lose.

For a beginner , I would suggest avoiding exotics, as typically they have wider spreads, higher volatility and bring certain unpredictability.

Most important thing is not the pair but more concern to the spread any lowest pair spread is the best to trade on
